Rescue teams will work late into the night to search the landslide area in Gjerdrum. They claim Saturday that they are still working to find survivors.
The Clarion Hotel in Gardermoen now has several affected and family members waiting for answers and fearing the worst. Among them are Britt Næristorpet and her daughter Åse-Lill. They are the mother and sister of Ann-Mari Olsen Næristorpet, and the grandmother and aunt of Victoria Emilie. Both are still missing.
– It’s all very well. Come on, we wait and wait for answers, says Britt.
They both live in the area near the Gjerdrum landslide and have been evacuated. Now they are trying to make the days go by while receiving regular updates from the police.
– Hope is there. We live in hope until they find something. We hope they are, says Åse-Lill.
Seven are still missing
TV 2 has previously told the story of Father Odd Steinar Sørengen, who woke up in the middle of the night when his co-inhabitant Ann-Mari yelled at him that his house was about to collapse.
He recovered from the disaster alive, but wished he could switch places with his daughter.
– I’d love to swap places with my daughter. So that she could have come here and been missed, Odd Steinar said.
On Saturday night, four people were found dead. six are still missing. Britt and Åse-Lill describe their situation as the reality that is beginning to assimilate.
– We know deep down that they no longer exist. But we wait anyway, until proven otherwise, says Åse-Lill.
– He is the best son of aunt and sister in the world. We love them. I do not know what to say. It’s hard. I miss them so much, he says.
Live with hope until the last moment
Until further notice, the two of you can stay at the Gardermoen hotel. They are full of praise for the police and rescue teams who work around the clock.
– They are very good, they say.
At the same time, they are trying to make the days go by. They say they can hardly think of Ann-Mari and Victoria. But they will have hope as long as there is the possibility of a happy ending.
– We hope they find them. We live with hope. We do that until the last minute, they say.
It continues until late at night.
The rescue operation for the missing will continue until 02:00 on Sunday night.
According to the fire service, the dogs looking for the missing have made several marks in the area of the avalanche.
