Sweden’s Hanna Petersson has risen to the top of the women’s car cross class at Momarken. On the podium he gets a special award. That is the end now.
Briefly about the case:
- In the last few days, Aftenposten has written about motorsport culture. It began with the case of women who told sexual harassment.
- Bilcross has for some years had the practice of handing out sex toys to women and men after a well-known run at Momarken.
- The NMK Trøgstad club changed practice after what happened in 2019.
Last year’s competition had once again brought together Norwegian and Swedish cyclists in the junior and senior classes in what is called Landskamp. The popular annual race track competition at Østfold is a tradition. But the awards differ from other motorsport competitions. Both men and women receive sex toys as prizes.
The speaker, Gunnar Fridlund, had something extra in store for the winner of the women’s class last year.
The local newspaper Smaalenenes Avis was present and photographed and was able to report on the following:
“Hanna Petersson not only received a trophy, a laurel wreath and a bottle of champagne. She also received dildos and various other ‘personality kits’ from Fridlund. It caused a lot of laughter from Petersson himself, the competitors and the audience.”
– I knew it was going to happen. It was fun right there. I didn’t feel it as sexual or degrading harassment. Nothing stupid was said, either, says the 32-year-old.
But many don’t think it’s particularly fun to let athletes get on the podium and get sex toys after a sports competition.
