Solskjær relieved after a dramatic ending

  • Sheffield United 2-3 (1-2) Manchester United

It was a stressful finish, but Manchester United took three points against Sheffield United. McGoldrick scored the first of the game before Rashford x2 and Martial turned the game around. Just before the end, McGoldrick cut down, but stayed for the Solskjær crew.

Thus, one United team has clung to the league leadership, while the other seems lost at the bottom of the Premier League table.

– We counterattacked and scored three goals. It’s always tough if you can’t put down the fight. They fought hard for 90 minutes, Rashford said in an interview with rights holders.

– We can’t jog the first five minutes away against Sheffield United. Then you are down. Then we wake up and play good football for long periods. We scored some fantastic goals. It was stressful in the end, but we persevered, Solskjær tells TV 2.

Start of crisis

Ole Gunnar Solskjær changed goalkeepers ahead of tonight’s away game against Sheffield United. David de Gea was sent off, while Dean Henderson came in for his second start in the league this season.

– I am aiming for this game early, Solskjær declared just before the deal.

This is not how it looked. Because even though the Norwegian was able to breathe a sigh of relief after 90 minutes, it seemed scary at first.

United’s last defense made a nasty mistake after five minutes. United tried to play on their own defense, but Henderson was surprised by the high pressure from Sheffield.

Burke entered the United area and it was all over when the United goalkeeper sent the play straight to the attacker’s legs.

Henderson desperately ran for the ball but landed in front of McGoldrick, who threw the ball into goal from close range.

1-0. Manchester United shuddered.

Fought back

It’s not hard to imagine how the tabloid title makers started sharpening their butcher knives, but Manchester United did what they usually do this year – they cruelly defended themselves against the last team in the Premier League.

First, Sheffield United had a blast when Sander Berge had to be replaced. Heavy on itself, but then got worse.

The game had 26 minutes when Marcus Rashford tied. The forward received a nice long pass from Swede Lindelöf and put it into the goal.

Seven minutes later, the game was reversed. This time it was Anthony Martial who made the scorers list.

The Frenchman played for free in a nice Pogba lobby, before he had luck and skill. Martial missed the ball but hit the Sheffield goalie. Therefore, the striker could roll the ball towards the goal.

Splendid goal

Sheffield United had another dream of still coming back, but was brutally ruined by a delicious United attack.

It started with Pogba doing a cute pirouette inside his own half, and went through some quick combinations of Bruno, Rashford and Martial before the latter (possibly unintentionally) rolled the ball to Rashford, who stormed onto the field.

It jingled from 16 yards and the ball went behind Ramsdale.

Exciting ending

United had good control of the arrangement in the second half, but just before the end McGoldrick cut into a corner.

The goal came a bit out of nowhere, but it was a stressful end to the match.

In extra time, the home team had one last chance. Mousset knocked out and Henderson had to come out in full force to save the shot attempt.

It was a rough start for the goalkeeper, but it ended in style.
