What does it take to be excluded from the Party of Progress?
This is the question that many have asked after the exclusion of Geir Ugland Jacobsen. Frp’s central board decided on Tuesday evening to fire the Oslo county leader from the party and appoint a temporary leadership group to the county team.
Dagbladet can now present for the first time the entire accusation that Ugland Jacobsen made against him, leading to the exclusion as county leader of Norway’s fourth largest party.
Read the accusations at the end of the article!
– Important to remove
Ugland Jacobsen appreciates Dagbladet’s interpretation of the accusation against him, so that people can get an idea of what the case is really about.
– All quotes are taken out of context. The intention was never to sow uncertainty around Siv, but to show that the FRP has a functioning party democracy. This means that you must be elected party leader before being recommended for first place on the county party’s parliamentary list. In that context, it is natural to remove all the relevant candidates, so that the party can democratically elect the most suitable one, Ugland Jacobsen tells Dagbladet.
So far, neither Siv Jensen nor Vice President Sylvi Listhaug have wanted to comment on the accusation against Ugland Jacobsen.
Jacobsen also wonders if the issue is who is asking questions about Siv Jensen’s future, not that they are. He refers to the county leader in Møre og Romsdal, Frank Sve, who went to VG this winter and opened up the leadership debate.
– There were no negative reactions, says Ugland Jacobsen.
The fired FRP member believes that the organizing committee has taken quotes out of context and interpreted everything in the worst sense.
– Nothing I said has to do with disloyalty. Nor is it “trample.” Here were other reasons. With the allegations now suspended in midair, laden with concepts like “disloyalty,” it is now important to find out what the case is really about, says Ugland Jacobsen.
“National Liberal”
The main accusation is Ugland Jacobsen’s repeated attacks on Siv Jensen, as seen by the organizing committee.
- Up to seven of the eight accusations against Ugland Jacobsen are based on statements that the organizing committee believes affect Siv Jensen. Or her qualities as a leader, if she will be re-elected as FRP leader or if Ugland Jacobsen casts doubt on her seat in the Storting.
- One accusation is that Ugland Jacobsen wants a “national liberal” candidate. National Liberal is the term Carl I. Hagen uses, but it has the same content as National Conservative.
- One of the accusations is that Ugland Jacobsen, as county leader, placed Carl I. Hagen in third place in the Storting. A discredit of the nomination process, according to the organizing committee.
The organizing committee is chaired by Alf Erik Andersen and lays the groundwork for disciplinary matters in the party. They also get contradictions from the accused.
– I have no comment on either the case or the process, says Andersen in a short comment to Dagbladet.
This is how they should clean
“Extremely divided”
According to sources from the Central Board of the Progress Party, the accusation against Ugland Jacobsen is divided into two main sections.
One continues with the repeated attacks on Siv Jensen. The other about his lack of understanding of the role. This will be based on statements for which you are not covered on your own county team.
– Oslo Frp is extremely divided, says one source, as one reason why Ugland Jacobsen lacked support for the constant outbursts.
Dagbladet has also received confirmation from sources at the central board that Ugland Jacobsen’s proposal in VG that the American election was rigged was not part of the original indictment against him, but rather became a topic during discussion in the central meeting where the exclusion was discussed and made.
Eight charges
Dagbladet reproduces here all the examples that the Progress Party used as a basis for exclusion and that was what Ugland Jacobsen in the process had to defend himself against. We also publish excerpts from the organization committee’s evaluation against party regulations.
1) TV 2 June 27:
- “Now Siv Jensen is the leader of the party, but since the national meeting is before the nomination in Oslo, I would like to nominate other candidates. It would have been good with more candidates, and it will be North Korean, to say the least.”
Organizing Committee Comment:
The organizing committee believes that the statement shows that Geir Ugland Jacobsen is actively seeking candidates who will challenge the party leader as the first candidate on the Oslo FRP parliamentary election list.
2) TV 2 June 27 (same interview as the previous one):
- “I’m not sure about Siv. She has been a good party leader, but when it comes to political leadership, we do not overlap. In that sense, I can say that she can be in first place, and then she can continue, but not nothing has been decided. “
Organizing Committee Comment:
According to the evaluation of the organizing committee, the statement shows that Geir Ugland Jacobsen is not sure of the leader of the Progress party and that he is not behind the party’s political line. In the opinion of the organizing committee, this type of statement is solely to the detriment of the party.
3) TV 2 June 27 (Ugland Jacobsen talks about the leadership election in Frp at the next national meeting):
- “From my own political point of view, I would prefer one from the liberal national side of the party. I could imagine a candidate who is more in line with us in Oslo.”
Organizing Committee Comment:
The statement shows that Geir Ugland Jacobsen is actively working to make Oslo Frp more than just the Party of Progress. It shows that you work to undermine democratically made political decisions in the party. The same match program applies to Oslo Frp as to the rest of Frp.
4) TV 2 (probably TV interview):
- “Personally, I could think of more candidates, because then I think we have a real option.”
– So you wouldn’t vote for Siv Jensen?
‘She can. It all depends on who else can ask. Having multiple candidates can be an impossible problem. “
Organizing Committee Comment:
The organizing committee believes that the statement emphasizes that there are doubts as to whether the Oslo FRP has confidence in the party leader.
5) Dagbladet June 30:
- “What Siv Jensen says makes me uncomfortable. Not in his own name, but in the name of the party. I really hope that he doesn’t think it is unacceptable that there are more candidates. Why not have more candidates? I don’t want a culture of fear in the party. that you are afraid to point out what you stand for or that you want a position. I am a true FRP. I am liberal, and a bit more. In any case, not accepting opponents is not liberalism. “
Organizing Committee Comment:
The organizing committee believes that the statement creates the impression that the party leader is against democracy in the party. The party would be in an impossible position if the party leader was not elected to the Storting. Rather than being based on the clear interest of the party organization, the statements cast doubt on whether the county party wants the party leader to represent them in the Storting.
6) NRK July 1:
- “The reaction from other county councils sounds reasonably scared. He doesn’t hang up at all. They might think I want to get rid of Siv. I never said that.”
Jacobsen says he asks for the attitudes he knows from the corporate world, where competition is welcome.
“It’s a very legitimate proposal that I came up with, it’s really just a side note in a summer interview. I want a more real party democracy, where not everything is decided beforehand.”
Organizing Committee Comment:
The organizing committee believes that the statement shows that Geir Ugland Jacobsen does not agree with the fact that there is true party democracy in Frp, which in this case is an accusation against the party for violating party statutes and guidelines. The claim is advanced undocumented. The declaration hurts the Progress Party.
7) TV 2 July 19:
- What do you think about Jensen rejecting the possibility of choosing a route?
“It doesn’t sound very democratic, but I would like to discuss it with Siv internally when the time comes. I think it’s a bit sad that this has become a controversy in the media, it shouldn’t have been ».
Organizing Committee Comment:
The organizing committee believes that the statement gives the impression that the leader of the Progreso party is undemocratic. The statement directly damages the reputation of the party and affects the party leader as the party’s main representative.
8) TV 2 November 10:
- “Forget the nominating committee, I just filmed Hagen again through a bank proposal.”
Organizing Committee Comment:
The organizing committee considers this statement to be a strong discredit of the nomination committee and the nomination process of the Oslo FRP.
The declaration weakens confidence in the party’s democracy and the nomination process. This is a violation of the party’s guidelines for nomination.
