The municipality already has an order for the use of masks in public transport and in taxis. There is now a strong recommendation for wearing face masks in indoor public spaces such as shops, malls, restaurants, and outdoors when sitting at a table, cinemas and sports halls, the Trondheim municipality writes in a press release.

Additionally, residents are asked to wear face masks outdoors in densely populated areas, such as the city’s Christmas market. The recommendation does not imply the use of masks in schools and kindergartens, nor does it imply a greater use of masks in other municipal services and institutions.

The 24 corona cases that were recorded on Wednesday have a mild course of the disease. There are eleven women and 13 men. The municipality has found the source of infection in 15 of the cases.

Pupils from different classes from Bispehaugen, Charlottenlund ungdomsskole, Heimdal videregående skole and Lukas videregående skole have been quarantined.

The NTNU is affected and students who have participated in various conferences have been quarantined.

The previous record in Trondheim was 20 new infections on Nov. 4, the municipality’s summary shows.
