Many people may want to forget about the past year, but it has certainly affected our Internet search habits.
What do Joe Biden and loaf bread have in common?
They end up ranking high on the lists of the most popular searches among Norwegians in 2020.
Google Norway has released six different lists that provide a glimpse of what Norwegians were interested in last year.
Pandemic, bread stick and Joe Biden on top
Unsurprisingly, the word “coronavirus” ends up at the top of the list of the top 10 search phrases in 2020. This is followed by “US elections” and presidential candidate “Joe Biden.”
The TV show “First Time Service”, the basketball player “Kobe Bryant” and the phone “Iphone 12” are the only words that are not related to the United States or crown and that have made the list.
– 2020 is a historic year that will be remembered for the corona pandemic. So it’s probably not a big surprise that the coronavirus dominates the search for Norwegians this year. We have all faced great challenges and limitations in our lives, and we have had to navigate our way through a new everyday life, Andrea Lewis Åkerman says in a press release.
She is the acting head of communications for Google Norway.
The numerous restrictions have affected several of the lists. Closed gyms and more free time led many to take a trip to the woods or parks.
Perhaps that is why “loaf bread” also reigns in the recipe category. It’s no longer clear why “banana bread” and “tiramisu” have had a renaissance on the food front.
“Vaping”, “simp” and actions
Also on the “What is …?” and how …? “Many of the words are related to the crown.
In the first, “What is a pandemic” appears first, but Norwegians also wonder what is “vaping” (smoking electronic cigarettes) and what does “simp” mean (a person who masturbates after his girlfriend, or ” shoe”). However, the list also has room for more classic questions: “What do you write on a confirmation card?” Finish in sixth place.
The “how to …?” It shows that Norwegians were more concerned about how the coronavirus is transmitted. Then many of us wanted to know how we could buy stocks on the stock exchanges that sank the world, we must believe Google.
But many have also been laid off and have struggled financially in the past year. Perhaps more surprisingly, those who lay off googled it beforehand: “How to fire employees” ends up seventh on the list, followed by “How to get a haircut.”
Among the people we were curious about in 2020, Joe Biden and Kobe Bryant finish on top. But the Norwegians were also very interested in North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and convicted murderer Arnfinn Nesset.
The Norwegian person that most people applied for was Angelina Jordan, 14. In 2020, he participated in the second season of the television show. America has talent. There he received much praise for his version of the Queens classic “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
On the list of the types of entertainment we seek the most, is NRK’s profile, Herman Flesvig’s series. First time service on top.
But 2020 was also the year then King tiger it was a talkie, and then Maskorama it gathered more than 1.1 million viewers this past weekend. Hence, they finish in sixth and third place respectively.
