Tomorrow, Denmark will introduce a partial closure in 38 municipalities in an attempt to gain control of the infection in the country, which has recently increased considerably.
Director Henrik Ullum of the Statens Serum Institut (SSI), the Danish National Institute of Public Health, tells Danmarks Radio that there is talk of exponential growth, with cases of infection increasing by four percent a day.
But the Danes are far from the verses of the Nordic countries, if you look at the figures from Our World in Data.
The double
Here, Denmark has around 277 infected per million inhabitants. Norway has just over 65 infected per million inhabitants, and at the end of the list we find Iceland, which has around 42.
Sweden is undoubtedly the country with the most infections, according to these statistics.
Turns off
The country has almost twice as many infected as Denmark and is registered with more than 506 infected per million inhabitants.
– Try a lot
– It’s scary. But you have to interpret the numbers a little differently considering that we are recording and testing a huge amount in Sweden right now. I don’t think this is done the same way in other countries, Danderyd Hospital’s chief physician Johan Styrid tells the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.
– But it is worrying that we are so high, adds.
The Danish BT points out in his article that Sweden is not yet the country in Europe that registers the most infected.
Both Georgia and Serbia record more, the newspaper writes.
Danish infection spike
Yesterday, a new infection peak was recorded in Denmark with 2,046 new corona cases, says Health Minister Magnus Heunicke.
At the same time, the number of hospital admissions has increased from 26 to 328.
In Sweden, 133 new deaths with covid-19 were recorded on Tuesday. Therefore, the total number is 7,200. A total of 297,732 cases of infection have been registered.
