America First is now becoming a policy when it comes to distributing vaccines.
According to Fox News, Donald Trump will sign a new presidential order on Tuesday.
– The order will ensure that all Americans have access to the coronavirus vaccine before US authorities begin helping countries around the world, Fox News reports.
Reuters, CNN, CBC also report that such a presidential order is just around the corner.
The news came after the New York Times reported that US authorities had stopped requesting more doses of vaccines from Pfizer.

Sources they have spoken with say the president wants to emphasize that the priority has always been a “America first” approach.
“We want to make sure we distribute these vaccines to Americans before we start shipping them around the world,” a source told Fox News, who assumes that international aid could start in the summer or late spring.
According to Fox News sources, the order to be signed makes clear that “we will prioritize access to the American people, before working with partners and allies to offer access to the vaccine.”
Also earlier this year, Trump made it clear that the goal was to help himself first, then the world.

It’s not clear what that really means
It is not clear what the presidential order will actually mean. Norway receives vaccines through the EU procurement program, which is done directly with the vaccine manufacturers.
I an interview with Good Morning America The head of Operation Warp Speed, Monclef Slaoui, was unable to respond to what Trump’s decision really meant.
Pfizer’s vaccine, which is expected to be approved first, is manufactured at two locations in Europe. Moderna’s vaccine, on the other hand, is a product that has been developed in the US in close collaboration with the NIH and Operation Warp Speed. Both have applied for approval in Europe.

– We do not expect this document from the US President to have consequences for the agreements that the EU Commission and manufacturers have concluded on the delivery of vaccines to EU / EEA countries, writes the FHI chief physician, Preben Aavitsland, in an email to Nettavisen.
In addition to these two vaccines, the European Medicines Agency is working on the ongoing evaluation of the Johnson & Jonson and AstraZeneca vaccines. None of them have formally requested their approval.
It may be excessive purchases in the US.
In the news that has been published about the case so far, there is no mention of a ban on the export of vaccines. CNN suggests that this is about what the United States should do with all the vaccines they have bought, which they will never use.
– The United States has the opportunity to buy three billion doses of vaccine, spread over all the contracts signed by the federal authorities. In theory, that would be enough to vaccinate the American population many times over, writes CNN.
Reuters suggests that the presidential order in practice is about Trump wanting to take over what is believed to be a very quick launch of the vaccine.
Operation Warp Speed, which falls under Trump’s responsibilities, gets a great deal of credit for the fact that development of the vaccine has gone as fast as it has. It is believed that the entire population of the United States can be offered the vaccine for the summer.
