- Vålerenga – Rosenborg 1-0 (0-0)
SAND OF INTILITY (Dagbladet):
It would be dramatic at Intility when Vålerenga beat Rosenborg in the medal match. Because in the final minutes of the arrangement, Rosenborg had a goal disallowed.
– How the heck can there be a free kick for Vålerenga? It’s a whimsical and dramatic situation, says Eurosport commentator Kenneth Fredheim.
It was Vegar Eggen Hedenstad who put the ball into the goal, but the referee disallowed the goal after a duel at 16 meters.
Aron Dønnum won the match scoring a quarter of an hour before the end.
There was also drama before the break when Rosenborg took a cold shower. Dino Islamovic was sent off and Åge Hareide thundered. It was a difficult second half for Rosenborg, who smoked in their fourth loss in a row. Rosenborg hasn’t lost that many games in a row in 15 years.
– It’s crazy. I am so tired of the Norwegian judges, Åge Hareide tells Eurosport.
Expelled
There were two teams with no direct accident results in recent weeks that met at Intility Arena. However, it was an important match in terms of a medal in the Elite Series.
Åge Hareide made four changes to his Rosenborg after three consecutive defeats, the most recent a humiliating loss against league champion Bodø / Glimt. There were two identical teams initially in Intility.
Neither team showed live party football in the first 45 minutes, but the round still had drama.
Within minutes, Rosenborg had the first big chance of the match. Trønderne showed good tendencies when Anders Konradsen hit the ball from five meters, but the shot passed through a Vålerenga player and went into the corner.
Vålerenga did not allow himself to be affected by the almost cold shower at first, and played with a few good chances in an otherwise poor game.
Osame Sahraoui played a good chance, and Johan Lædre Bjørdal sent a straight shot at André Hansen’s clips in the Rosenborg cage.
However, just before the break, the guests took a cold shower when Dino Islamovic received his second yellow card of the night and was sent to the locker room with 45 minutes to go.
Curse
RBK coach Åge Hareide gave referee Sigurd Kringstad full skin during the break:
– It’s crazy. I am so tired of the Norwegian judges, Åge Hareide tells Eurosport.
Vålerenga showed a very good pace in the opening minutes of the second half, and had one and two chances that should have led the home team.
A quarter of an hour after the first half, Aron Dønnum had another great opportunity for the hosts, when he shot well outside.
Bård Finne came in for Herolind Shala and immediately marked himself when played, but a bad touch prevented him from getting around Hansen.
A quarter of an hour before the end, he was deservedly ready for Vålerenga. On this occasion, Dønnum managed to hit the goal, when he placed the ball in the far corner after taking out two Rosenborg players.
