Today, Ståle Solbakken has his first day on the job at NFF. Yesterday he broke the quarantine obligation after entering Denmark when he was present in the settlement between HamKam and Lillestrøm.

– I impose myself a triple fine if the outstretched arm is necessary, says Ståle Solbakken to VG.

On Monday afternoon, NTB reports that the Innlandet Police District is opening a case against Solbakken for breach of quarantine.

– It is completely fair that the police open a case. I’m sorry. I acted in good faith. In fact, I thought it would land on Friday. A lot has happened. I counted on Friday morning, then counted that I finished on Sunday. I have not tried to fool anyone. I just haven’t been smart enough. I had to check my plane ticket today to see when I land, says Solbakken.

– Should you have checked more closely that the quarantine obligation is ten days and not ten days?

– I haven’t thought about that at all. I’ve always read ten days, so I haven’t thought for a second, says Solbakken, who emphasizes that until Sunday he followed the rules of the book:

– I’ve been to the supermarket, in the woods and at home. I did a corona test two days before leaving Copenhagen to be safe. Markus and I (the son) live on each of our floors, we have two bathrooms. I did everything according to the book, but I counted and thought wrong. Sorry, but I haven’t tried to fool anyone. There I have clean flour in the bag.

– But the new coach of the national team may not be the best in mathematics?

– There is nothing wrong with the mathematical properties, because if you start on Friday, it was ten days on Sunday. But I can be a bit forgetful, I can admit it.

Police attorney Tom Gjestvang in the Inland Police District confirms the case.

– The suspicion has received great public interest. We have opened a case and will conduct the necessary investigation. The purpose of the investigation is to confirm or deny the suspicion that something criminal has occurred, Gjestvang tells VG.

Solbakken also broke the quarantine when he gave an interview to TV 2 about NFF’s work at Ullevaal Stadium on Monday morning. Sports director Vegard Janssen Hagen on TV 2 confirms to NTB that the interview took place on Monday morning.

– A LITTLE FORGOTTEN: Ståle Solbakken tells VG that there is no problem with the mat, but that he is possibly a bit forgetful as he was wrong about the day he came out of quarantine. – What is the penalty for non-compliance with the quarantine obligation and can it be sanctioned for repeated non-compliance?

– In general, we can say that infringements of the infection control law in relation to quarantine violations range from 10-20,000 crowns. Especially more than 20,000, I don’t think it is, says Gjestvang.

– You spoke with him? Are you going to do that?

– Initially, we could have taken an interrogation, but through the media, everything is probably on the table, so I think we don’t need it. The case is reasonably clear, says the police attorney who believes the case will be completed in a day or two.

It was Dagbladet who first mentioned the quarantine violation.

When the 52-year-old was introduced by the Norwegian Football Association at a press conference last Thursday, Solbakken said he had thought of Vålerenga-Rosenborg on Monday night. But he wasn’t sure if it was possible due to the quarantine period.

Solbakken told VG on Monday afternoon that he will not be going to Oslo for a match.

Solbakken said that he has received many offers since he ended up at FC Copenhagen:

The NFF also confirms the incident.

– Ståle has his first day of work with us today. We will probably contribute to counting well-managed days in the future, which is 9 is 9 and 10 is 10, writes NFF’s director of communication and public relations, Gro Tvedt Anderssen, in an SMS to VG.
