After the worst day of contagion of the pandemic, the Danish prime minister orders the partial closure of Copenhagen, Aarhus and Odense.
In a video on Facebook, Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen says that Odense, Aarhus and Copenhagen will be partially closed. Several municipalities around the capital and in Zealand will also be partially closed, he says.
– We will resolve the infection before Christmas Eve, says the Prime Minister.
This happens on the same day that Denmark sets a new infection record, with 1,745 new infections in one day. According to the Danish Statens Serum Institut, this is the highest number of new infections in one day since the pandemic began.
– During the weekend, we have prepared a geographic, focused and partial closure. This will apply in the parts of the country where the infection is most prevalent, he says.
She says the goal is to implement the measures early, so hopefully one will avoid having to close further “if one day it gets too late.”
– We are in dialogue with the parliamentary parties about the situation. Tomorrow we will present the new measures. Then we’ll also say more about what restrictions will apply across the country this Christmas, New Years, and the rest of the winter.

The previous infection record in Denmark was Thursday, when 1,605 cases were recorded. There were 2,115 cases recorded on Saturday, but it included some figures from Friday and therefore cannot be directly compared.
The fact that more and more people are registering as infected is also due to the fact that many more people are being tested than before.
But the number of hospitalized with covid-19 also increased by 23, to 302 people. Of these, 42 are in the intensive care unit and 26 are connected to a ventilator.
On Sunday there were also seven deaths from causes related to the crown.
