Per Gunvald Haugen (45) is the first challenger to win the ordinary “Farm” in history.

After 11 weeks, this fall’s “The Farm” is over, and by Sunday night it’s finally clear:

Challenger Per Gunvald Haugen (45) beat Daniel Viem Årdal (31) in the grand final and could encourage the title as the winner of ‘Farmen 2020’.

– It’s so incredibly big that I don’t think you can understand how big it is. I wasn’t a favorite, but then I got away with the win, Haugen tells VG.

Karianne knocked out just before: – Disappointed with myself

Haugen came to the farm as a challenger and thereby creates history. Only on “The Farm” has the celebrity won a challenger before.

– It is completely indescribable, and there is so much emotion in it. I feel like I won for my children, he says.

– It took off completely

While Haugen was on the farm, the confirmation from twins Anna and Lars Erik was lost.

– It was uncomfortable. I was about to go home early, but by then they had become idiots. And then I managed to win.

After the final was over, the first thing he did was call the twins.

– As soon as we hear each other’s voices, we cry. We talked a little. And then I said I had a surprise I turned the phone to the booth sign and said; “WE DID IT”. Then it fully took off and there were even more tears.

On the same day the final airs on television, Anna and Lars Erik have their birthday.

– It’s a lot of fun and a bit of celebration. They are incredibly proud and that means a lot, he says.

– Probably stuck

Haugen grew up on a farm, but decided to keep it hidden from the other participants.

– I decided to keep it to myself. Although I grew up on a farm and have a general knowledge of animals and plants, I am not very good at that knowledge, he says.

He agreed to join “Farmen” to get away from everyday life, and says he didn’t have a goal to win at first.

– I came in a bit humble and wanted to stay calm. At the same time, I know I have a crazy competitive instinct.

He believes that the moment the challengers entered the farm was crucial for him.

– We arrived when there was a lot of discussion between some of the other participants. And when I got through the first few weeks, I decided to do everything I could to win.

And he did. After an even ending, he pulled out the longest straw.

– Like me, Daniel is a competitor, so he probably got a lot of attention.

Bitter for being number two

Cast stuck really for Årdal.

– I did not participate in “La Granja” to be number two, he tells VG.

How did you react when you lost?

– I was disappointed, sad and abandoned, he says.

Although it’s bitter to be number two, Årdal says there’s a good atmosphere between him and Haugen today.

– We have a good tone and I have nothing against him. I congratulated him and we gave each other a hug.

Årdal says he had a fantastic stay and made friends for life.

– I am very proud to be the only one who was there for 74 days. There are many who think that foul play, but obviously I have played it correctly. No one has been there as long as I have.

He does it with the award

As the winner of “The Farm”, Haugen receives not only honor and glory, but also a cabin and a car worth one million crowns.

– The plan is to keep both. Now I’m looking for a piece of land for a cabin, says Haugen.

The dream is to have a cabin in the mountains, not far from the house in Gjerstad.

– When you win and get a cabin, you have to do something about it. It is an incredibly pleasant memory.

Haugen is incredibly happy to have agreed to participate in the competition, including as a challenger.

– It was a fantastic trip. I’ve fallen in love with everyone, he says.

Due to the corona pandemic, there will be no final party as there usually is.

– It is a pity. I love being social so it’s hard. But we have to take the celebration another time.

Now, the winner hopes to share the news of the victory with everyone he knows.

– There will be enough life in the village, and it will probably take some time off. Although many think I will win, I think many will be surprised.

Haugen greatly appreciates the response he has received so far.

– I have only received positive comments. People cheer and I get calls every day. It is very moving.

And as a single man, he has taken off in the inbox of interested women.

– It’s good that people get in touch, but that’s probably not how I should find the lady of my dreams, he laughs.
