(Chelsea-Leeds 3-1) Olivier Giroud (34) is sweeping this week. And when he finally managed to start a game for Chelsea in the league, he appreciated the confidence and scored his first Premier League goal of the season.
Frenchman Giroud was huge in the Champions League game against Sevilla on Wednesday, when he scored all four of the away game goals.
– It was a difficult match. I’m very happy to have won again, Giroud says during the broadcast of TV 2 on Saturday night.
They were on the ball from the first second, barely catching their breath before Chelsea had two big chances in 90 seconds. First by Hakim Ziyech, then Giroud. But Leeds responded with lightning speed. Kalvin Phillips played Patrick Bamford with a great pass, Bamford calmly put the ball into goal with his left foot. And then the standard was set for a crazy first half.

This was Chelsea’s eleventh league game, and with a win they top the table one point ahead of Tottenham and Liverpool, who play on Sunday. Liverpool against Wolverhampton, while it will be Tottenham’s capital derby at home against Arsenal.
