Spend the money on new adventures in Oslo.
FROGNERSETEREN (Nettavisen): High above all the trivia of the city, we find the art installation ‘Roseslottet’.
– We must have something to offer when we attract people from afar in the forest, laughs Vebjørn Sand (54) and points at his brother Eimund (51). The two of you are the brains behind this.
Vebjørn Sand has no less than 95 works of art on display in the area, corresponding to a football field and a half. As we inhale and exhale, they guide us around, and Sand tells of the heroes and war victims displayed as if they were part of the extended family.
– This is a sensory arena. Here you can walk outside and experience what happened during the war, and learn about the values we lost, Sand tells Nettavisen.

If you haven’t updated your history knowledge beforehand, you’ll probably want to do it later.
Roseslottet by Frogrovteren
This year marks 80 years since Norway was attacked in 1940 and 75 years since liberation.
Roseslottet is an art installation and educational project that aims to “It tells the story of the occupation of Norway and the basic principles of democracy, the rule of law and humanism that were later out of order”.
The exhibition is open from 10 am to 11 pm and will at least be open until May.
Christmas Eve is the opening hours 10-15.
The spy who started a relationship with Terboven
What was happening now with Sonja Wigert again, the beautiful actress who started a relationship with Josef Terboven to drain him of information and who later died alone in Spain?
Slightly wrapped in a pink evening dress, she has also found her way to Nordmarka’s most prominent vantage point.
– While most are closed in Oslo now as a result of the crown, there is an influx of people here. Why are we so concerned about what happened during the war?
– I think it is good that everyone knows the general lines of the “history of freedom”. First, we highlight what we lost during the occupation: the rule of law, democracy and humanism.
Five large golden buildings symbolize the five years of war 1940-45 and are visible up to Spikersuppa.
– Roseslottet is a tribute to democracy. It is edifying, about the future, human rights and love, universal values, says the artist with a lot of iron on fire.
Watch a video interview with Vebjørn Sand:
– There is a mouse!
The huge installation lives in nature and with it.
– Look, there is a mouse! If he sees it, he suddenly exclaims.
This demanding crown year has just ended December, and here in the heights it is awash with visitors, in contrast to the rest of Oslo, which is reasonably closed.

23 years have passed since Vebjørn Sand installed “Ice Castle” in the same location:
– So we had 200,000 visitors in three months, so we are not quite there.
Meanwhile, Sand has lived in New York for many years, to which we return.
Price: 50 million
– How is the financing of “Roseslottet”?
– First through the sale of works of art, then we sold properties and took loans. At the same time, companies and businesses that have been involved in building it have sent invoices that have been reduced by 50 to 100 percent to the foundation, he humbly says.
– There is a unique contribution drive behind this facility, which has a total price of 50 million.
– We are very proud to have created 20 new jobs in the crown year.
– Resists cold, snow and rain.
As we speak, someone is constantly:
– He’s my grandfather, says one proudly, giving a short version of his role during the war.
– I get a clean chin, this is very, very good, says another.
– How do you manage to paint so much? Asks a third.

– What happens when the nights lengthen and the cold begins? Can all your photos support this?
– Yes, there is much that is innovative with “Roseslottet”, also the materials used, so that they do not wear out at all. It is wonderful to be able to walk in nature and see such a large exhibition. Many people wonder “what happens when it rains?” – and nothing happens, he laughs.
– This is a great production. How much time do you spend on your photos?
– My brother Eimund and I spent 2.5 to 3 years developing the “Castle of Roses” in an art park, and then the paintings are included, he replies.
– Thorough fact-checking
– Fact-checks on the war also focus on the NRK series “Atlantic Crossing.” How much artistic freedom do you have when it comes to war?
– Everything that stands as information next to our objects has been verified by leading historians and researchers, he says.
– So here everything is completely correct, but when I paint the pictures, I look a bit like Jon Michelet when he writes about the sailors of war; Everything is based on the truth, but I add and rest, like when you make a movie to make it more exciting and dramatic.
– I have to think about making the best painting possible, so I take that freedom.
– Do you have a point of view on “Atlantic Crossing”?
– No, I don’t have a TV, so I haven’t seen it.

UNITED STATES: – Chapter closed
– When we stand here and look at Oslo, do you miss New York and America?
– Yes … you can say that it was 17-18 intense years of life, but I am so present where I am, so when I got home and started this with my brother Eimund, it took all the focus and attention. .
And he has no plans to return anytime soon:
– I sold my apartment and used the money as equity here, so for me it is a period that is over.
– But of course I think about the United States and what has happened there in the last period and I keep in touch with my friends there.
– It would have been a challenge
– Are you interested in who is leading the country?
– Yes, who doesn’t? I am very happy that the United States has Joe Biden as its new president, to endure another four years with Donald Trump…. It had been a challenge for many!
The exhibition is open from 10 am to 11 pm and will at least be open until May.
– What happens after that is up to the public and the authorities, Vebjørn Sand secretly concludes.
