A federal judge appointed by Donald Trump himself is not merciful against one of the president’s lawsuits in Wisconsin. – This seems almost strange to me, says the judge.
Federal Judge Brett Ludwig will hear arguments in one of Trump’s campaign lawsuits to invalidate the outcome of the Wisconsin election, where Joe Biden won and consequently gets all the voters.
In the lawsuit, Trump demands that the case, which involves naming new voters, end up at the table of the Republican-controlled state legislature in Wisconsin.
The lawsuit is one of two by Trump in Wisconsin with similar arguments, writes the AP news agency. Trump believes hundreds of thousands of mail-in ballots sent according to state guidelines are illegal and wants the state legislature to decide who wins the election.
– This is a pretty incredible requirement, Ludwig says during a conference call in which he had to decide the deadlines and set a hearing date on the case.
He says it is “obviously an unusual case,” and casts doubt on whether a federal court should hear the case.
– Absurd
– I struggle a lot to see how this is something that should be taken up in federal court, says Ludwig, who was nominated and appointed by US President Donald Trump in March of this year.
– The request to send this case to the Legislative Assembly seems almost strange to me, he says.
Ludwig wonders why Trump isn’t going directly to the state legislature if he thinks he should be involved in voter appointment.
Trump’s campaign attorney in the case, William Bock, says Trump needs the court to declare the election “invalid” for the legislature to get involved.
He argued that the judge should take the case and deal with it quickly when the Electoral College meets on December 14.

Many defeats
The AP has tallied a total of 50 lawsuits filed by Trump and his allies.
At least 30 of them have been discarded or already rejected. About a dozen have yet to make up their minds, while the Trump camp has only scored a small victory:
A case in which he challenged the decision to move the deadline for providing identification for certain postal and absentee votes in Pennsylvania.
According to Ap’s article, which was written nine hours ago, losses in court have continued to mount. Democratic election law attorney Marc Elias Trump tweeted at 1:00 a.m. that Trump and his allies have lost up to 45 lawsuits.
A quarter of an hour later, he reports that the position is 46-1 after a lawsuit by the leader of the Republican Party in Arizona was rejected, as well as another lawsuit by conservative supporters in Wisconsin.
On Thursday, Trump also lost another lawsuit in Wisconsin, in which the state Supreme Court declined to hear Trump’s lawsuit to disqualify about 221,000 votes in the state’s two largest democracies.
New lawsuit in Georgia
The lawsuit is one of three Trump campaigns in Wisconsin. One in federal court and two in state courts.
Trump has already lost a series of lawsuits in states with a stable election result where Biden won. If he won in Wisconsin, the state’s 10 voters still wouldn’t be enough to change the outcome of the election.
On Friday night, the Trump campaign arrived with a new lawsuit in Georgia, which has already certified the result of the elections.
In a statement, Trump’s lawyers say the lawsuit will include sworn testimony from Georgia residents who believe voter fraud has occurred.
Trump has clashed with Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and Governor Brian Kemp over the state presidential election. There will also be a potentially decisive election for senators soon.
