Sweden now has 69 corona deaths per 100,000 residents and has recorded a total of 7,07 virus-related deaths during the pandemic, figures from the Swedish Public Health Agency show.
Prime Minister Stefan Löfven acknowledges that the situation is difficult.
When state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell was to report on the situation in November, there was also an outage on live television. He did not report the death toll.

49 became 20
It was during an interview with Dagens Nyheter that the unfortunate stain emerged on November 18.
– It is not the case that we suddenly get up from the 20 deaths that we register per day. We have previously logged 40 to 50. This is not the case, Tegnell said.
However, on the day in question, 49 people died as a result of covid-19 in Sweden. From November 15-21, a total of 292 people lost their lives as a result of the virus, Expressen writes.
This corresponds to an average of 41.7 deaths per day at that time.
– It is not my intention
On Thursday, Tegnell admitted the stain after being presented with the correct figures.
– It is quite obvious that I did not report the figures at that time. Somehow, he could only comment on what he knew at the time and what we could possibly expect from what we had seen earlier this fall, he told Expressen.
But to call it a mistake, Tegnell disagrees.
– It will be a crude expression. It was not my intention to say wrong or some kind of attempt to deceive someone, he says.
Tegnell continues:
– That the figures would increase dramatically and that, above all, we would have a greater delay than we had at the beginning of this autumn, it was difficult to predict in the situation.
Expressen writes, however, that the accumulation of deaths for week 47, when it took place on November 18, came on Thursday. No more deaths were reported after the period than at weeks 44 and 45.

Hit hard
Sweden is currently one of the countries in the world with the highest infection pressure.
On Thursday, the Swedish government decided that the country’s upper secondary schools will be closed for a month. Starting Monday, December 7, there will be distance learning for students.
– This should be able to reduce the spread of the infection, so that you can return to local education when the spring term begins again, Education Minister Anna Ekström said at a press conference.
In Denmark, 1605 infections and six deaths have been recorded since Wednesday. Therefore, the total figures amount to 85,140 and 858, respectively, according to the Statens Serum Institut. This corresponds to 15 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.
Currently 267 patients with covid-19 are hospitalized. 38 of them are treated in the intensive care unit, 28 with a respirator.
By comparison, Norway has six deaths per 100,000 residents.
