Rikke Granlund closed the cage at the beginning of the second round, but may be eliminated from the team after it emerged on Thursday that Silje Solberg finally tested negative for the crown.

NORWAY – POLAND 35-22:

KOLDING (Nettavisen): Norway finally achieved a comfortable victory in the European Championship premiere in Kolding, when Poland was defeated 35-22 on Thursday.

Henny Reistad and Nora Mørk showed that form is on the rise and became Norway’s top scorers with six goals each in the encounter with the Poles.

He closed the cage at the beginning of the second half.

With star goalkeepers Silje Solberg and Katrine Lunde on their way to the European Championship team in arrears, it was Emily Stang Sando who protected the Norwegian goal from the start of Thursday.

However, after a heavy first half, with a recorded save of 14 shots, Rikke Granlund had a chance after the break.

The Esbjerg goalkeeper took advantage of that opportunity and closed the cage in the first ten minutes of the second half. In the end, he ended up with a 50 ransom percentage, and so Norway was able to withdraw.

– I’m very happy. It was great to come in and contribute, says satisfied Granlund to Nettavisen after the match.

Despite a positive European Championship debut, Granlund is now in danger of losing his place in the European Championship squad when Lunde and Solberg arrive this weekend.

The latest twist in the goalkeeping saga came on Thursday, when Thorir Heigerisson confirmed to Nettavisen that Silje Solberg has performed a negative corona test and is therefore likely ready to leave for Denmark this weekend.

– I only relate to being part of what they tell me. There are two world-class goalkeepers coming in so I’m happy if they finally replace me and give me a chance, says Granlund himself.

Hergeirsson: – Very positive

Thorir Hergeirsson is also aware that Granlund contributed to Norway finally getting good control of the match.

– We needed to raise the goal game a bit, we replaced Rikke and she responded immediately. It was a vitamin injection. So we get some speed, Hergeirsson says after the game.

However, the Icelander is not surprised by Granlund’s performance.

– He does it often in his club, comes in and makes a difference. She is very good at going in and she does it here. That is very positive.

Svele: – Olsson comes to look at them.

TV 2 handball expert Bent Svele is also aware that Norway has two world-class goalkeepers en route to Kolding, but is waiting to put the jubilation aside.

It is true that Lunde has trained well with the national recruiting team in Norway lately, but Solberg has been isolated with coronary heart disease and has not been able to train normally for the past three weeks.

– Now we will see, then, when they come down. Then Mats (Olsson, goalkeeping coach) comes to look at them. Katrine has trained well while Silje has been out of training for a long period, so we’ll see how long she needs, Svele tells Nettavisen.

– Now Granlund hit here and Sando didn’t hit, but it’s okay. This has been the case for Norway for many years. When one doesn’t hit, then there is another who can come in and do it, says Svele.

The squad in Denmark is 20 players, while the official squad of the match in the European Championship at all times must be 16. So four goalkeepers can quickly become redundant.

Norway’s Poland coach Arne Senstad had done his best in advance to speak ill and lower expectations for his own team, because it is a reserve-minded Polish team that has attended the European Championship in Denmark.

It is questionable whether Senstad did not take it badly, the Poles did well at the start of the match, but gradually the difference in quality became apparent.

After Alexandre Zych dropped to 9-8 midway through the first half, Norway braced themselves and slowly but surely pulled away from the Poles.

Malin Aune got good working conditions on the right edge of Norway, often prepared by waitress Nora Mørk, who was safe as the bench from the seventh meter, four out of four before the break.

Halfway through, the teams went into a break at 17-13 against Norway. By then, Aune and Mørk had each scored five goals.

In the second half, Norway withdrew, and coach Thorir Hergeirsson also had valuable playing time for several players on the squad.
