Kamzy Gunaratnam nominated for second place in Oslo Ap – VG

On Tuesday night, the stage was set for a duel in the Oslo Labor Party for second place on the list of nominations for the parliamentary elections in the fall of 2021.

During the nominating committee’s nominations meeting last Tuesday, there was no agreement on who should get the generous seat.

In the party vote, Kamzy Gunaratnam escaped with the supposedly safe seat for the Storting. He received 137 votes, while Zaineb Al-Samarai received 119 votes.

Kamzy Gunaratnam, 32, is currently the deputy mayor of Oslo for the second consecutive term. She is originally from Sri Lanka, but grew up in the capital. Gunaratnam represents Grorud Ap and, among other things, has been the leader of the Oslo AUF before. He has been a member of the Oslo City Council since 2007.

Al-Samarai was previously nominated for second place by the majority of the committee, while the minority nominated Gunaratnam for the same position.

After losing the vote, Al-Samarai decided not to vote for sixth place, before withdrawing from seventh place. He also promoted Agnes Nærland Viljugrein to the square.

The leader of the Labor Party, Jonas Gahr Støre, tops the list of nominations. The place where it was unanimously adopted.

Eide got third place

Former Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide was first nominated for fifth place. He has now been nominated for the supposedly safe third place in the Storting.

It was originally the leader of the Oslo Labor Party, Frode Jacobsen, who was nominated for third place.

However, he yielded the position to Espen Barth Eide if requested by the nominating committee, which they did. Eide himself said he came to accept the place before the recommendation to the committee.
