John Kitolano, Elbasan Rashani and Petter Hagen all tested positive for the coronavirus, Odd reports on its website Monday night.
– We wish it were not so. Experience has shown that this is very contagious and it has happened to us. We have tested the whole group, 36 people, and the others have received a negative response. We have to bring him the leftovers, so we’ll do our best to test it, Odd’s sports manager Tore Andersen tells TV 2.
Fredrik Nordkvelle has already tested positive and is isolated.
Odd writes that all three have a small degree of symptoms, and the players are now cared for by the club’s medical apparatus. The quarantine period for Kitolano, Rashani and Hagen runs until December 9.
Nils Fisketjønn, competition director for the Norwegian Football Association (NFF), tells TV 2 that they will discuss on Tuesday morning what happens to the agreement between Kristiansund and Odd on December 9, the same day that the three players Odd’s have their last day in isolation.
– Most importantly, we do not put others at risk of infection and we maintain quarantine provisions. Number two is that we can finish the series, and if we have to remove some players so as not to put others at risk of contagion, we play with the players we have available. We must be prepared to finish as set up now, on December 22, says Tore Andersen.
Sunday’s match against Sandefjord and Wednesday’s match against Godset were postponed after Nordkvelle’s positive corona test.
The rest of Odd’s players and support staff are in quarantine. All of these will be retested on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Obos’s team, Kongsvinger, confirmed on its website that two of its most players tested positive for the coronavirus.
