On Saturday night, this year’s P3 gold award winners will receive honor and glory for the eighth time.
Comedy trio Jonis Josef, Henrik Farley and Martin Lepperød from P3’s “Character” caught fire as presenters during Saturday’s live awards ceremony at Deichman’s Old Library.
– We are here to celebrate Norwegian musicians, Farley said during the show’s opening.
Infection control rules led to this year’s P3 Gold having to move online. It has also imposed restrictions on this year’s concerts, as Jonis Josef noted.
– It is you who have played in the bathroom, in the cars and on the balconies this year, said Josef.

This year’s newcomer
The Newcomer of the Year award was presented by rap duo Madcon and it became Musti.
– Thank you very much, it is much heavier than I thought it should be. I don’t make music to win awards, I make music for myself and myself, my people, dear Tøyen, he said.
Musti also thanked his family and management.
Ugbad Musti (19) is a rapper who grew up in Tøyen (and also a bit in Somalia and the UK), and is probably best known for the single “Gro Harlem Brundtland”.
– She’s only 19 years old. When I was 19, I was still lying to my mother saying I was studying medicine, joked Jonis Josef.

Artist of the Year
Girl in Red, or Marie Ulven as she is called, takes the Artist of the Year award.
– This is an artist who makes music that hits us in the heart, said Thomas Gullestad.
– This is an artist who has excelled both here and abroad, and it is especially important because it is the public that has voted for this year’s artist, said Jenny Skavlan.
P3 Gold: Astrid S shone with Norwegian design
The wolf broke through in 2018 with the song “I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend.” The following year, she was named Untouched of the Year. She has previously been nominated for the 2019 P3 Gold in the Newcomer of the Year class, and the 2019 Spellemann Award in the Breakthrough of the Year and Gramostipend classes.
– Thank you. Now I am very sorry that I didn’t cry until I got here. This is really cool, it’s been a really fun year, or kind of fun, Ulven said in his thank you speech.
P3 Gull has chosen to replace the “Live of the Year” award with “Artist of the Year”. It is an award that should not only be based on the live performance of the artist, but honors the overall footprint the artist left in the last year.
Song of the year
– It is a great pleasure for us to join the ranks of celebrity couples who can hand out awards together, said Magnus Devold, who managed to present the award for Song of the Year alongside his girlfriend Maria Stavang.
They appeared on the red carpet as a couple for the first time on Saturday.
Dagny Norvoll Sandvik, known as Dagny, wins the Song of the Year award for the song “Somebody,” which at the time of this writing is ranked 15th in the top 20 on the VG chart.

– Oi. I am not a happy person, but now I am a little touched. Thank you very much to everyone who listens to my music. I just want to say that I am receiving this award on behalf of many inspiring, motivating and wonderful people, said Dagny clearly touched.
This is the first time Dagny has won an award on P3 Gull, despite the fact that she has been nominated for Rookie of the Year in 2016 and Song of the Year in 2018.
She has also been nominated for the Spellemann Award five times.

The P3 award

It was Culture Minister Abid Raja who presented the award and read the jury’s reasoning.
– They say you are an artist and composer at the top. Since the debut song “Call me” in 2011, you have attracted people with several hits with a unique voice and melodic style. You have received the deserved mark “hitmaker” and queen of pop. Gabrielle, you are a fearless songwriter who can combine the catchy with the real and simple. You are simply an artist of words, said Raja.
The P3 award will be awarded to an artist or group that has particularly excelled, and means a lot to the listeners of P3 and Norwegian music and cultural life.
