A man in his 20s and two men in his 30s are injured after an explosion in the Øvre Eiker municipality on Saturday night. One of them has been denounced for having modified the fireworks.
Police were notified of the explosion in the Øvre Eiker municipality in Viken at 01.15 on Saturday night.
One of the three injured has been sent to Ullevål hospital and is seriously injured. One of the other injured is only slightly injured and was discharged from the hospital on Saturday morning, while the third was admitted to Drammen hospital with less serious injuries.
The police bomb squad was called to the scene and has been investigating overnight. At 0740 on Saturday morning, Operations Manager Tore Gryndem confirms to VG that the bomb squad has ended.
– They have concluded that it is safe to be there, there is no danger of more explosions. From what we know, it indicates that there has been an accident involving someone working to modify some fireworks, says the operations manager.

It happened inside
Gryndem claims that one of the injured has the status of a suspect in the case. He has been reported for careless handling of explosives.
– Has it happened in connection with a social gathering?
– We do not have an overview of that, what is the reason why they have done this, he says.
The operations manager also confirms that there were multiple people present when the accident occurred inside, but does not have an overview of how many police officers have spoken.
Southeastern police will dispatch their forensic technicians later Saturday to investigate the crime scene. Until then, a patrol guard will be deployed.
– Fireworks can be powerful enough
It was the southeastern police who called the bomb squad after the explosion.
– They will help us clarify the area, and then further investigate trying to question the wounded and others who were present, if there were more there, operations manager Ottar Steinstø told VG overnight to Saturday.
– Why is it called the bomb squad?
– Fireworks can be powerful enough and we have no experience with explosives, replied the operations manager.
