A man in his 20s and two men in his 30s are injured after an explosion in the Øvre Eiker municipality on Saturday night. The police bomb squad is on the scene.
Police were notified of the explosion in the Øvre Eiker municipality in Viken at 01.15 on Saturday night.
The extent of the damage to all three is unclear, but one of them has been sent to Ullevål hospital.
– Everything now indicates that there are accidents with fireworks, reports the Southeast Police on Twitter shortly after 03 hours.
According to the police, the accident occurred indoors. According to Drammens Tidende, a large area at the site was blocked early Saturday morning. The police bomb squad has come from Oslo to investigate.
It was the southeastern police who called the bomb squad after the explosion.
– They will help us to clarify the area, and then it will be further investigated trying to question the wounded and others who were present, if there were more there, says operations manager Ottar Steinstø to VG.
– Why is it called the bomb squad?
– Fireworks can be powerful enough and we have no experience with explosives, responds the operations manager.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are not very clear at present, says Steinstø.
– We will spend much of the night trying to find out what happened.
