Diego Maradona Junior (34) writes in an emotional post on Instagram how much his father meant to him.
Diego Maradona’s eldest son Diego Maradona Junior was unable to even attend the soccer icon’s funeral after becoming infected with the corona virus in early November, according to Sweden’s Aftonbladet.
Instead, the son has been at home in Naples, and on Friday afternoon he sent a final greeting to his father.

Diego Maradona Junior was born in 1986, the son of Cristiana Sinagra and Diego Maradona. For many years he has played soccer for teams slightly lower in the Italian league system, signing up for a match on the U-17 national team to Italy in 2001.
Maradona didn’t acknowledge paternity until 2007 and only publicly acknowledged paternity in 2016, according to Aftonbladet. Maradona said at the time “I love him very much and he looks a lot like me.”

In an Instagram post posted in connection with Maradona’s 60th birthday on October 30, the son knew that he had forgiven his father.
– You ask me often if I have forgiven you. How can I not do that when you can end so much suffering with a squeeze? I would forgive you a thousand times more, and do you know why? Because our children have their own superhero and you have always been mine, the son wrote at the time.
Also, she wrote that she wished she could be with him and wished him more joy, love and that he should always be happy.
Shortly afterwards, Maradona underwent surgery for a brain hemorrhage, before dying on Wednesday after a cardiac arrest.
