Penalty score

Martin Ødegaard and Real Madrid desperately needed a boost after a weak start in the Champions League group stage. Three points from four games was the state before tonight’s game against Inter, who in turn have also struggled, and are at the bottom of Group B with two points. It was a match that no one could afford to lose, and Real Madrid realized that seriousness.

Within five minutes of the first half, Real Madrid received a penalty when midfielder Nacho fouled Nicolò Barella after Martin Ødegaard played it brilliantly. The penalty put Eden Hazard in goal, and thus a dream start for the visiting team.

Shortly after, Lucas Vázquez put the ball on the post and shortly after the same man was close when left-back Ferland Mendy was selflessly alone with the goalkeeper.

Throughout the day, Real Madrid continued to control the game, without creating the greatest chances. Madrid’s guests were also given a gift package when Arturo Vidal spoke with two yellow cards, and therefore one red, after he failed to get a penalty towards the end of the first half.

– Not the smartest thing you’ve done in your career, said TV 2 expert Erik Thorstvedt.

There were no more goals in the first half and so Real Madrid went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

– Martin Ødegaard was good in both passing games and movement, Thorstvedt said during the break.

Replaced

Despite a solid first half, Ødegaard was replaced early in the second half. Casemiro came in a little more defensively.

Just over a minute after the change, Real Madrid doubled the lead after an own goal by Achraf Hakimi. The goal came after a good interaction between Rodrygo and Lucas Vázquez.

Beyond the inning, Inter pressed for a reduction target, without success. Thus, Real Madrid takes a very important victory and climbs to second place in Group B.
