New York wedding photos are shocking

In mid-October, the state of New York decided to impose a ban on the holding of a large Jewish wedding in Brooklyn, New York.

The reason was that an investigation into the wedding planning showed that up to 10,000 people were expected to participate.

To prevent the wedding at a time when the number of infections in religious communities was increasing, the New York health director signed a temporary law that bans all events of this magnitude.

Just three weeks later, a rival rabbi gathered thousands of people for another wedding in the same area. According to reports, a wedding that this management has done its best to keep a secret from the authorities.

At this time, different parts of Brooklyn were in different corona areas.

Regardless of the area, the regulations still apply to a maximum of half capacity in religious gatherings and that you should stay away from everyone outside your home, writes the Jerusalem Post.

According to the newspaper, this synagogue will have a maximum capacity of 7,000 people.

The information also indicates that the community leadership made a persistent effort to keep the grand wedding hidden.

In an article in the society’s own magazine, Der Blatt, reproduced by The New York Post, it is said that it has subsequently been revealed how efforts have been made to prevent the information from reaching the authorities.

Among other things, all invitations and information about the wedding must have been delivered orally.

As has since become known, the authorities have fined the organizer $ 15,000. This corresponds to around 134,000 NOK at the current exchange rate.

During the Sunday night press conference, Governor Andrew Cuomo confirmed that he had learned of the incident and would launch an investigation.

– If it is true that this happened, it was an absolute disregard for the law. It is illegal and also shows a lack of respect for the people of New York, he said.

Mayor Bill de Blasio has also reacted strongly.

– It seems that a lot of effort has been made to conceal it, which is completely unacceptable. They will be immediately fined $ 15,000 and there may be various consequences in addition, Blasio said Monday, according to JP.

Also on Monday a large wedding was held in the same synagogue, various media reported.

“Unjustified attack”

The two main weddings mentioned are about the same Jewish community in New York, run by two brothers. These two, both rabbis, have been bitter rivals since their father’s death in 2006.

In October, it was the grandson of a rabbi who was forced to maintain a digital solution as a result of the plans that became known, and it must have been this that triggered the secrecy when the other rabbi’s grandson would marry in November.

After the health director imposed a ban on holding the planned wedding in October, the “revealed” synagogue reacted to the state’s handling of information about their wedding.

According to CNN, they stated that a wedding of this size was no longer planned, given the contagious situation, and called it an “unjustified attack.”

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said at the time that he was happy with the decision, but confirmed to reporters that police would have a backup plan in place for the event.

Earlier that month, Governor Andrew Cuomo had tightened the rules for religious gatherings, after several religious communities had seen an increase in infection cases.

Among these were several of Brooklyn’s major Orthodox Jewish communities.

The rules were met with strong opposition from several of the communities, who took Cuomo’s crown regulations to court and held demonstrations, CNN wrote.

– Toxic combination

The new information comes at a time when the number of infections is on the rise again in New York.

During a news conference Monday, Cuomo warned that New York could quickly end up in the same place it did this spring and warned that no vaccine will arrive in time to halt the development the city is now seeing.

With the infection developing today, figures indicate that the state can obtain more than 6,000 hospital admissions a day in three weeks. It is in vain that it is feared that the holidays will have on the contagion figures, it was announced at a press conference.

– Now we are in a situation with a bad synergy, said Cuomo.

Among other things, he highlighted COVID-19 fatigue, combined with the fact that several vacations are just around the corner.

“This is a toxic combination,” the governor warned.
