On Sunday it was Asle Kirkevoll who had to leave the farm, 11 kilos less than when he entered as one of the challengers. But at home he had trouble sleeping after watching “The Farm” on television.

– My family had probably thought that I would stay at the farm for a few more weeks. But obviously my time had come, Asle Kirkevoll tells VG.

By Sunday night, his time had come for this year’s season of The Farm. It was he who entered as one of the challengers and had to pack his bags and go home, after a duel against Kjetil Kirk.

– The milk bucket was the only branch on which Kjetil could take me. He knew he was tired in both arms and shoulders after working so hard with the plow. I realized I was going to lose when he chose the milk bucket, says Asle.

Thus, the journey returned to Geilo’s house and to the equestrian center for the groom and farrier.

– The family had taken good care of the horses – everything was completely ironed, so I have no problem traveling again.

Nor was it “himself” Asle Kirkevoll who returned home. The weeks at “The Farm” had been a good diet for the 63-year-old.

– I actually lost 11 kilos and I’m very happy with that. A real boost. I also haven’t gotten back up much after getting home. I’ve gotten better to be more active and eat less.

Asle says that everyday life quickly returned.

– But I had trouble sleeping for a while, often after watching “The Farm” on TV. There were many impressions that came up that I stayed and thought about. There are things I could have done better. But things are going well now, says Asle.

It has received many positive comments from far and near along the way.

– I think a lot of people get upset now that I leave the farm. They might even stop looking, Asle jokes.

At 63, he was the oldest contestant of the year on “La Granja,” and he doesn’t see that as a disadvantage.

– No I dont think so. I am used to working and standing. Young people have a completely different jargon and tone. Per, Thor and I would often sit by the fireplace and have a lot of good conversations together. Per and I arrived as challengers and we had the same starting point. We helped each other and supported each other when we needed it, says Asle.

He says he also learned a lot from the time he spent on the farm.

– It is important to be more patient, wait a bit and be more restrained. And not least, never make appointments. Because it can quickly become a problem when you have to keep them in a place like “La Granja”. If I’ve made an agreement, I’ll stick with it, says Asle, who thinks it’s important to be himself.

– Be hardworking, be honest. You can’t just go in and lie to people. There were so many people playing a game all the time that they lied about everything. Maybe it’s okay for the first few days. But then you fall in love with those to whom you have lied, but you never gain trust. Everything goes wrong, wrong. I was honest, I am a rider and have been doing it all my life.

But in everyday life in Geilo, where he runs an equestrian center and has had at most 80 horses in the stable, Asle has other things to think about.

– The Corona situation puts an end to almost everything in Geilo and it will not be easy to run the company in the future. On the other hand, I am also a bit happy about that. You may have more time for family and not just horse riding, says Asle Kirkevoll.
