Another resident of the Villa Skaar Valstad nursing home died after being infected with the coronavirus. With the eighth death, 15 residents remain in the nursing home.
On Sunday night, Villa Skaar Valstad claims that a woman in her 80s died in the nursing home in Eidsvoll.
The eighth resident of the nursing home has passed away.
– This is a completely extreme situation for the resident group and for the relatives of those who live there, who are worried. It is also incredibly difficult for the employees who work there. It’s terribly difficult, municipal chief physician Carl Magnus Jensen tells VG.
This week it became clear that 22 of the 23 residents had been diagnosed with corona infection. With the eighth death, 15 residents remain in the asylum, reports the municipal chief. There is still one resident who has not been diagnosed with the infection.

According to the municipality, 24 employees also tested positive for the virus.
– This is sad for family members, for employees and for all of us. The Eidsvoll municipality sends warm thoughts to the families, concludes the municipal chief.

Eidsvoll Mayor John-Erik Vika says hard work is being done to care for those in the nursing home.
– It’s a terrible situation. I send all my thoughts to the Villa Skaar family and employees who are in the middle of this.
– Unfortunately, it is not unexpected when it has affected a group that is the risk zone. When people are in a nursing home, it is because they are unwell, and therefore can have dire consequences, he says.
There have been outbreaks in the nursing home since November 11.
– It is a challenge when the virus is allowed to function without knowing that it is there. Even if you run routines for infection control, it is almost impossible to predict. That is what is so scary.
