A total of 45 people are reported for violating infection control rules after police disrupted two events at Greenland rental premises in Oslo on Sunday night.
The police received tips from neighbors about the parties at an apartment building near the Greenland Police Station. It happened shortly before midnight on Saturday.
– First we ended a private meeting with 22 people present. All are reported for violations of infection control legislation. From what we understand, soccer was shown on the premises, Operations Manager Line Skott in the Oslo police district tells NTB.
He claims that the event was not held at a private address, but rather in a kind of club room.
Discovered two events
– What is this, we have not been able to clarify completely. It is very likely that there were more present than these 22, but many were outside at a door when we arrived, says Skott.
He says that when the police arrived, they discovered another incident involving 23 people at the same address.
– In the same direction, on the same floor above, our patrols met with another private meeting. Here, everyone is also reported for violations of infection control regulations.
Sold food and drink
Both places are listed as separate and independent rental locations, according to police.
– But the place is narrow, so here people have been sitting close. In one of the places food and drink were also sold without a service license, so here we will contact the municipality’s Business Administration, says the operations manager.
No alcohol was sold at the two events.
On Friday night, the police broke up a party in Grünerløkka with 12 participants. All were reported for violating infection control rules.
However, the police were glad that most of the time it was very quiet in Oslo.
– It indicates that people take the rules seriously, and we’re happy about that, Operations Manager Skott said Saturday night.
Reviews in various places
During the night until Sunday, the police have intervened in various parts of the country.
At Lyngdal in Agder, the ten participants at a party are informed:
At the same location, a nightclub was ordered to toughen up its infection control routines.
At Mosjøen in Nordland, the police stopped a private party with 12 participants. These can be reviewed:
The government has clearly encouraged people to stay home as much as possible. They have asked the police to prioritize violations of infection control rules.
What is actually forbidden or simply discouraged varies from place to place. The rules are stricter in areas with high infection.
There are signs that the spread of the virus is slowing down nationally. However, Oslo stands out as the great challenge.
