Hertha Berlin started strong, but in the second half Erling Braut Haaland really showed why he was named “Golden Boy”, or Europe’s best under-21 player, earlier in the day.

In the end, there were four goals for the golden boy in the match that ended 2-5. Haaland now has ten goals in seven games this season. Only one goal separates him and Robert Lewandowski on the list of top scorers.

With a win in today’s game, Borussia Dortmund are second in the Bundesliga, just one point behind Bayern Munich.

Haaland appeared on Twitter after the match and received a quick response from Hertha Berlin.

Haaland admitted after the game that Dortmund struggled in the first half.

– It was a bit difficult at first. We were close a couple of times, but we had to move on. I liked the goals, they were good goals, so I’m happy, says Haaland to V Sport.

Haaland was motivated by the Golden Boy award he won earlier that day.

– It was a good message to receive. It was a free motivation, and I took it with me to the fight. You saw it. I had to show a bit, and I felt like I did. Now there is full focus on the Champions League, Haaland says.

After the match, television footage showed a smiling Dortmund coach Lucien Favre holding up three fingers against Haaland.

– He said I scored three goals, but I replied that I only scored four before “you replaced me,” says Haaland.

Hertha Berlin took the lead in the first half

Hertha Berlin were tough from the start and deservedly got ahead of Matheus Cunha in the 34th minute of play. Dortmund delivered a weak first half and were not very successful on the pitch, despite a couple of chances.

Dortmund pressed for equalization before the break, without success. Seconds before the break, Erling Braut Haaland came very close to put the tie, but was stopped by Omar Alderete of Hertha Berlin. The big opportunity was just a warning of what Haaland would do in the second half.

After tonight’s four goals, Haaland Bundesliga top scorer Robert Lewandowski breathes a sigh of relief. Bayern Munich’s top scorer stands with 11 goals, while Haaland now has 10 goals.

Prodigy Youssoufa Moukoko, who turned 16 on Friday, replaced Erling Braut Haaland in the final minutes and became the youngest player in the Bundesliga.

Haaland’s accomplishments don’t go quiet on social media. The Jæren bull is acclaimed by various profiles of Norwegian football.
