(Arsenal 0-3 Aston Villa) Mikel Arteta and Arsenal beat Molde 4-1 on Thursday of this week. On Sunday Aston Villa ended up beating Arsenal 3-0 with Ollie Watkins (24) in the title role.

Aston Villa opened the season with four wins from four games, where they were surprised by beating Liverpool 7-2. Then there were losses for Leeds and Southampton before they swept Arsenal off the field in a 3-0 win on Sunday.

The visiting team took the lead in the 25th minute, following a rough, but effective, shot by Matt Targett from the right. Bukayo Saka was unlucky and shoved the ball into his own net to prevent Villas Trézéguet from scoring.

In the second round, Ollie Watkins also signed up. The forward was signed by championship club Brentford this summer and delivered a hat-trick for Villa in the big win over Liverpool. Against Arsenal, he delivered two goals in three minutes.

And Watkins’ goals probably meant more than just scoring two goals against a superior club. Arsenal are the favorite club of the two-goal scorer.

– My grandfather and my uncle probably won’t be very happy. I’m a fan of Arsenal myself, so this is a lot of fun. I’m over the moon, Watkins smiles at Sky Sports after the game.

He points out that they have now shown in Villa that there is a team that can beat everyone. He himself enjoys life in the Premier League after the transition from Tier 2.

– I love it. There is a lot of pressure for new signings and people expect to give up, but my focus is on scoring goals and delivering well, he says.

His first goal came when Ross Barkley hit a post in front of the goal and the forward headed from very close. Just three minutes later, Jack Grealish played it free in the back room, and from an oblique angle hit the ball with his left leg.

The 24-year-old forward was probably an undescribed magazine for many when he signed for Aston Villa. In Brentford, however, he delivered the goods over time. In his last three seasons with Brentford, he delivered a double-digit number of goals all three times. In his final season, he achieved an impressive 25 goals, in addition to serving three assists to score goals.

The Birmingham club are now in sixth place with 15 points from seven games, only one goal difference worse behind Chelsea in the top spot. Arsenal are in a disappointing 11th place with 12 points and one more game under their belt than Aston Villa.
