Discussions about the general rule in the Premier League continue after the big game in Manchester.
MANCHESTER CITY – LIVERPOOL 1-1:
A fast-paced match in the rain in Manchester ended with a point apiece for the two Premier League bigwigs.
Mohamed Salah and Gabriel Jesus each scored their goal at Etihad, but the big topic of conversation after the game is about the situation that occurred after 39 minutes.
Kevin de Bruyne launched a cross from the right, before the ball hit the arm of Liverpool’s Joe Gomez.
Replays showed Gomez desperately trying to push his arm away from the ball field when the post hit, but the ball still hit the Englishman’s hand.
The situation is the latest in several similar leagues in the Premier League this season, further fueling the discussion about whether the rules on hands should be changed.
– What a joke
The VAR room decided that referee Craig Pawson should come out to see the situation on the screen outside the touchline, and Pawson ultimately chose to point to the eleven meter mark at the Etihad.
De Bruyne did something as rare as burning the penalty, but the motive for the attempt is still being discussed and taken into account on Twitter.
– A surprising lack of De Bruyne, but the new manual rule is a joke. He’s clearly desperately trying to get his arm out of the way, he writes Gary Lineker.
– Gomez’s situation would always be a punishment, right? believes in turn a journalist from the New York Times Rory smith, who does not exactly have the support of the former England striker.
– Never in the world. He’s clearly trying desperately to get his arm away, Lineker writes.
Although several believe that the penalty was awarded quite correctly, the Athletic journalist also argues James pearce for Gomez trying to get his arm out of the situation when he was hit.
– What a joke. Gomez pulled his arm away, wrote after the situation was cleared up.
Klopp, of course, was asked about the situation after the game, but insisted that he hadn’t had time to see him again.
– But Joe (Gomez, editor’s note) said “I couldn’t do anything,” says according to the BBC.
Pan opening
Kevin de Bruyne’s penalty was so weak that Liverpool fled in horror.
However, City right-back Kyle Walker did not do so, leaving Sadio Mané on the ground inside the area in the 13th minute.
Pawson conceded a penalty and Mohamed Salah was frozen from the penalty spot.
The match fluctuated wildly initially, and after just over half an hour, the teams were just as far behind.
One post finally hit Gabriel Jesus, who with a completely savage tangle was suddenly left alone with Alisson.
The striker mocked his compatriot and made it 1-1, but his teammates still had to go to the locker room to take a break with a draw after De Bruyne’s missed penalty.
Alexander-Arnold injured
Jürgen Klopp started the confrontation with Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and the form player Diogo Jota, but the German removed Firmino from the field before the hour was up.
Soon after, he also had to take off right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold after the youngster was sitting on the grass with what looked like a leg stretch.
This is disappointing news for the Merseyside club, who already have Virgil van Dijk out for the rest of the season with a nasty cruciate injury.
Manchester Light Blues chased a leading score during the second half, but ultimately had to settle for a point against the reigning league champions.
This means that Pep Guardiola’s team is in eleventh position with 12 points, while Liverpool is third in the league with 17 points after eight league games.
