Decision on regional combat activity

The temporary decision takes effect from Friday, November 6 inclusive, and applies to all matches that should have been played under the auspices of the Norwegian Handball Association regions (in practice, children’s and youth handball) until November 10 inclusive. In consultation with the Norwegian Sports Confederation, it has been clarified that agreements in upper handball (REMA 1000 league and 1st division) can still be carried out, provided that local restrictions do not prevent it.

The decision was made by the national leadership group of the Norwegian Handball Association, which consists of the NHF general secretary and the daily leaders of the six regions.

– The situation of the crown is serious. This is underscored by the recent tightening of national and local authorities. At both the central and regional levels, we get a lot of questions from clubs asking what is happening and what they should relate to. Therefore, we believe that it is important that a single decision is made that our teams and members can relate to, even if the infection situation differs from municipality to municipality, says the Secretary General of the Norwegian Handball Association, Erik Langerud.

It highlights that all teams remain free to carry out training, according to current protocols, as long as the room is available and the municipal authorities allow training activities. But the regional combat activity is thus suspended for the next few days.

– It is difficult to have to make this decision, but now we want to have an overview. In the coming days, we will learn about the guidelines issued by the local authorities and gain a clearer understanding of what the national austerity measures imply in practice. Therefore, we temporarily freeze combat activity at the regional level, until Tuesday, November 10, continues Langerud.

– At the beginning of next week we will announce which guidelines will apply to handball starting on Wednesday, November 11, with the aim of resuming match activity when local restrictions allow, says Langerud.

The individual region will revert to what happens next with the affected matches.
