The administration of President Trump in the state of Georgia, where 16 voters are at stake, has fallen to less than 40,000 votes, reports CNN.
The advantage was in the hundreds of thousands of votes, now it is 39,000, says CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
Updated figures for Georgia are expected soon. Just before 3 p.m. Thursday, Trump has a 49.78 percent lead and 2,424,319 votes, while Biden has 48.99 percent and 2,386,182 votes, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Donald Trump’s election campaign has filed a lawsuit calling for the Georgia census to be suspended. On Wednesday night, Trump wrote that he was declaring electoral victory in Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina. This is despite the fact that votes are not yet counted in the relevant states.
CNN also reports that the distance between President Trump and presidential candidate Biden has narrowed dramatically in Pennsylvania on Wednesday.
According to the channel, Donald Trump had an advantage of around 600,000 votes in the state, but now it is around 200,000.
According to Decision Desk HQ, Trump received 3,189,102 votes (51.06 percent), while Biden received 2,985,221 votes (47.79 percent).
Pennsylvania is one of the states that is associated with great stress so far. President Trump has declared victory in the state, although the votes have not been counted.
At 12:30 am on Thursday night Norwegian time, Governor Tom Wolf reports on the elections. Thank everyone who has worked hard to count the votes.
– The eyes of the world are on Pennsylvania, he says.
– This election is a reminder that the most important thing we all do is protect our democracy, he says, pointing out that this means having an accurate vote count.
– Pennsylvania is doing this right now. It’s no wonder that this choice takes longer than we are used to. In fact, it’s a good sign, in part because so many more have voted. That means the votes will be counted in Pennsylvania.
The governor emphasizes that voting is fundamental for democracy and that they must have fair elections without external influence.
– We must have confidence that the people elect their leaders and that the leaders do not elect the people who vote for them.
Wolf says that today they have seen attempts to undermine elections and block votes across the country. It further notes that Donald Trump’s election campaign staff has announced a lawsuit to temporarily halt vote counting in the crucial state of Pennsylvania.
– It’s just wrong. It goes against the basic principles of our democracy. It takes away the right of every American to vote and elect our leaders.
It says that those who work with elections must be able to do their jobs without fear, threats and attacks.
– These attempts to divert the democratic process are simply disgraceful. We will fight any attempt to deprive voters of the right to vote.
– Let me be clear. In Pennsylvania, every vote counts. I want to fight like hell to protect the voices of all the citizens of Pennsylvania.
