82 close contacts of two corona-infected people have been tested for the virus. Of these, 53 have been diagnosed with corona. In addition, seven other people are infected from another source, said municipal chief physician Rune Davidsen at the municipalities’ joint press conference on Monday night.

– We work very hard to discover close contacts and we have a 24-hour infection tracking team, emphasized Davidsen.

Close schools

Now a series of measures are being introduced to overcome the spread, said the municipal chief doctor in Åsnes and Solør, Jorun Slettli.

Among other things, several schools will now be quarantined for ten days. This applies to the Vålbyen and Våler ungdomsskole school in Våler, as well as to the Sønsterud school in Åsnes municipality. At Åsnes ungdomsskole, the eighth grade is quarantined for ten days.

– Flisa and Jara schools operate in a red emergency for ten days, Slettli said.

Teaching in the cultural school is transferred to digital platforms.

Slettli stated that the infection has also been confirmed in two high school students in Åsnes, but that they are not currently being quarantined.

– Infection tracking around these is ongoing, but we hope we won’t have to go through full steps, he said.

Kindergartens open

When it comes to kindergartens, these are open as usual. However, a private kindergarten decided to close on its own initiative.

– Other kindergartens are on a yellow level, but it can be relevant with red. We ask kindergartens to prepare, Slettli said.

Cultural activities and children’s sports are also closed.

– Children’s sports in Våler and Åsnes will be closed from 2 November and for ten days, said the municipal chief.

Nursing homes and home care

New rules are also being introduced for nursing home employees and residents.

– Until we have a better overview, we have decided that nursing homes are closed to visitors for two days. And nursing homes operate according to the red level, Slettli said.

He added that employees in nursing homes and home care service must now follow stricter guidelines when it comes to the use of personal infection control equipment.

In close contact with users, home help employees should also wear gloves and a visor.

– We are small municipalities. If we have many in the quarantine of home service employees, it becomes very vulnerable, says Slettli.
