Viktor Hovland (23) takes with him just over 1.7 million crowns in prize money after playing his way to 12th place at the CJ Cup in Las Vegas.
The Norwegian got off to a solid start to this weekend’s PGA tournament, and was three shots above par in a shared 56th spot after the first of four rounds.
On Friday, the Norwegian found the big game and played 35 spots with a six-shot round below par. On Saturday he was on his way to another solid round, but with a bogey on three of the final six holes, he was in shared 18th place before the final round.
Sunday seemed like a “boring” round for a long time for Hovland. After ten holes, he was left with one bogey and nine pairs. But with a birdie on holes 11, 12 and 18, without any new bogeys, he ended up with a shared 12th spot for the 23-year-old.
Hovland was two shots under par in the final round and finished eight under par in the tournament.
The Norwegian has played two tournaments this season: a 12th place this weekend and a 13th place at the US Open.
Jason Kokrak played the best round on Sunday. The American was seven shots below par after the first 11 holes. That was enough to lead him into the tournament, an advantage he took care of until the very end.
A total of 20 strokes under par in four rounds was enough to flee with the first prize of just over 16 million crowns. Kokrak won two strokes ahead of Xander Schauffele and three strokes ahead of Tyrrell Hatton and Russel Henley.
