After a weak start to the season, Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s job is under pressure, again. Former player Arthur Albiston (63), for his part, is confident that the red jerseys will reverse the weak trend in the Premier League under Norwegian leadership.
– These are difficult times, but I’m sure they can change it. They are off to a tough start, but they have players to overcome problems. The players are also on top of the situation, and it’s up to them to turn it around, Albiston tells VG.
“Dream Theater” has been a nightmare for Solskjær so far this season. The surprising 1-3 at home against Crystal Palace in the series opener was followed by a fortunate away win against Brighton, before Tottenham inflicted the biggest Premier League defeat in United history a week ago and average, 1-6 at Old Trafford.
This has contributed to speculation that Solskjær depends on good results in the future to maintain the position. The team is in 16th place after three games.
On Friday, Solskjær was questioned about the bad start in the press conference before the game against Newcastle. He then claimed that outside critics were trying to create divisions in the team.
Believe that Solskjær is confident
Only 10 players in United’s impressive history have more games for the club than Albiston. After 485 appearances and five cup titles, the Scotsman still lives in Manchester.
In a conversation with VG, the 63-year-old, who occasionally appears as an expert on MUTV, says he believes the club has confidence in Solskjær. Albiston notes that it has been a short time since the 47-year-old led United to third place in the series with participation in the Champion League as a reward.
– Ole has done well. Many dismissed them after a rough start last season, but then they fought back. I’m sure Ole and the team will defend themselves. I don’t see any reason why they can’t do that. They came close to taking a title last season, something they can hopefully do now, says the Scotsman.
Among other things, he aims for United to be 14 points behind Leicester, which were in the top four after 25 rounds last season. When the series ended 13 games later, Solskjær’s men were unbelievably four points ahead.
– The truth is that the whole club is behind Ole and his support team. Liverpool and City have set the standard for the rest in recent seasons. Now it’s up to Ole and the team to reverse the trend and start winning matches in the coming weeks.

Speculation
On Saturday, United will play away from Newcastle, ahead of the trip to Paris and next week’s Champions League meeting with PSG. Albiston believes the Norwegian is living well with speculation.
– Everyone is impatient. Everybody wants results, and preferably “yesterday”. But there are no easy matches. You have to do your best all the time, and first and foremost, the players are responsible for that, he says.
However, after the loss to Tottenham, Solskjær admitted that it hurt.
– It is very shameful. He has hurt all the players and he has hurt me. As a manager, it is the worst day of my life. I stretch my arm in the air and I must take responsibility for this, said the marveling Christian, before adding:
– We have lost long before and we have always fought.

Must overcome problems
There is an opinion shared by Albiston.
– It was a setback, but we have all played difficult games. The only ones who can turn it around are the players. They are the ones who have to go out and act. If Manchester United lose some games, it is always a disaster. Ole and the team have to put it aside and work hard to overcome it.
– Do Solskjær and United have a good enough squad to be able to challenge the best teams?
– Yes. Ole will always be looking to improve the stable, but they have players to challenge City and Liverpool. There is also enough time to change this. Ole is highly respected at the club. They are all behind him. The fans will also be behind him, but the players must do the job, warns the Scotsman.
P.S: Since the loss to Tottenham, Solskjær has bolstered the team with four signings in the form of Ivorian winger Amad Diallo Traoré (18), Uruguayan top talent Facundo Pellistri (18), Brazilian left-back Alex Telles (27) and forward Edinson Cavani (33) from Uruguay.
