Goalkeeping coach Einar Rossbach has been released from the contract at Odd, just days after he was enraged at the club’s sports coach, Tore Andersen.
Inform the club on their website. For VG, General Manager Einar Håndlykken says the following Monday afternoon:
– Einar resigns from today. It is based on statements from last week, says Håndlykken.

– Was it impossible for you to keep going to work after facing the sports director?
– Einar was going to resign for Christmas, anyway. We were already in the process of finding his replacement. Then we came to the conclusion that this was the best solution, responds Odd’s boss.
– I have had a nice chat with Einar Håndlykken. It’s okay. So I hope something good comes out of this for Jan Frode (Nornes) and the rest of his fantastic team, says Einar Rossbach to VG.
It was through the local newspapers TA and Varden that Rossbach sent shots at the club’s sports coach, Tore Andersen. Rossbach thought that Andersen did not understand enough about how the goalkeepers at the club should develop in the best possible way, and that this resulted in both sporting and financial losses for Odd.
– The sporting director also contributes to destroying the reputation and values of the club in kroner and øre, reported Rossbach, among other things.
Handlykken described the goalkeeping coach’s outspoken criticism immediately as “way above the line.”
– Does this mean that there is no ceiling height in Odd to face your opinion to the outside?
– Yes, there is a ceiling height. But at the same time there is a limit. That plot was over the edge, and I’ve said it before. So this became the solution, Handlykken maintains after the solution was released.
He had the son as a student
Einar Rossbach played in his time for, among others, Lyn, Tromsø and the national team and held a 50 percent position for the rest of the year for Odd.
There, his son Sondre (24) has been the starting goalkeeper in six seasons and played 161 of 170 possible games during this period. This year he has distinguished himself with several penalty saves:
Håndlykken says his son Sondre has not been involved in any way in the conflict resolution work between the goalkeeping coach and the longtime sports manager. Odd’s general manager is confident Rossbach Junior will continue to deliver on Odd’s goal even after his father disappears from the support apparatus.
– Yes, I think so, replies the general manager about the goalkeeper who is now meeting for the selection of Lars Lagerbäck.
When asked how Sondre Rossbach experienced the case and the outcome, Einar Rossbach responds:
– This is a matter between the club and me. When I come to a complete stop, it’s because I want something good to come out in both the short and long term for Odd. I wish good luck, says the former goalkeeping coach at Skagerak Arena.
Odd is now working to bring in a new goalkeeping coach. Terje Abrahamsen has confirmed to TA that he has been in discussions with the club about the position.
Neither Håndlykken nor Rossbach himself want to answer whether Rossbach will receive a salary for the rest of the year as part of the deal.
