As the first participant in “Skal vi danse” this season, Birgit Skarstein scored four 10s.
Birgit Skarstein and Philip Raabe danced rumba with a theme inspired by the movie The Wizard of Oz. When the dance ended, the couple received a long and loud applause from the audience.
It was also a dance that all the judges greatly appreciated.
– I don’t think Birgit is in a wheelchair at all. I see a dancing couple. You are beautiful in your arms, you control the chair with unique precision. This is how the rumba should be. This was top notch, it was absolutely beautiful! Judge Merete Lingjærde said.
As is well known, the profiled athlete is in a wheelchair. In August, she told VG that she and Raabe, who had no prior experience in wheelchair dancing, just had to try their luck in the competition.
– I very much agree with Merete. It was tough and nice, Tore Petterson said.
And it didn’t stop there.
– I hardly know what to say. What I see is such a beautiful dance. And it was so beautiful, said Trine Dehli Cleve, who had to dry her tears after the comments.
The protagonist herself was happy that the judges saw the hard work that she and her partner had put in.
– I’m completely overwhelmed. We have worked very hard for that. It’s really cool that you see the technique. I’m very happy, Skarstein said when asked how he felt after the judges’ comments.

And then the four judges, one by one, raised the 10-year-old girl, to the applause of the audience and the dance couple.
– It’s unbelievably fun. I am completely baffled. It was really cool. Big thanks to Philip who is a fantastic teacher, said Skarstein after it became clear that he got away with as many points as possible.
