Large parts of Ring 3 at Storokrysset in Oslo were closed after a water leak on Thursday night. Now the leak has stopped.

The water leak that has blocked much of Ring 3 at Storo in Oslo will now stop. There are still significant traffic challenges in the area.

The road is still closed at 9:24 PM due to leaks.

– With such large amounts of water, there must be a main water line that has smoked, says Morten Grimstad, watch commander in the Oslo fire and rescue service for VG.

Kjetil Bjørnsrud, head of communications for the Water and Sewerage Authority, says they are working to find the cause of the water leak.

-But nothing indicates that someone has lost water or had problems with pressure, he tells VG.

Big traffic problems

The water leak affects traffic in both directions, Vegtrafikksentralen wrote on Twitter.

There must have been talk of a leak from a pipeline to be located near the road.

– We try to close the way to take control of the situation. Several patrols are working to block collisions with Ring 3. The Tåsen tunnel to the east and the Lørentunnel to the west have been closed, Håkon Nilsen, assignment manager in Oslo’s Håkon Nilsen police district told VG.

The fire department also assisted in the work and the police directed motorists to the scene of the leak.

The water leak created significant traffic problems in Storo. At 8:11 p.m., firefighters on Twitter encouraged people to drive out of Storokrysset.

Avoid Ring 3

Vegtrafikksentralen Øst also encouraged motorists to avoid Ring 3 and seek alternative routes. A detour on the E18 is recommended.

Police are also patrolling several collisions to prevent motorists from entering the ring road.

A subway track was run between Nydalen and Store, causing delays on lines 4 and 5, but Sporveien declares at 9pm that it is back to normal operation on both tracks.
