The right-wing government has not listened to the lifting of the ferry. Now it is Frp who must save the ferries at Møre og Romsdal from the financial wreck.
In recent years, ferry operating costs have risen steeply, with allocated funds not keeping up. In Møre og Romsdal alone, this now amounts to around NOK 200 million. A quarter of a year.
Ferry counties will share NOK 100 million
The Møre og Romsdal County Municipality expected a good sum of money from the state for the new zero-emission ferries. In the state government budget, there is an additional NOK 100 million, to be distributed among all the ferry counties.
This, of course, is dramatic for county township finances and accounts for the ferry lift earlier this year. The right-wing government, on the other hand, does not seem to have understood the seriousness.
In their submission to the state budget, they made no contribution to maintaining the ferry supply or lowering ferry fares. Møre og Romsdal will be allocated just NOK 14 million to finance additional expenses with environmental shuttles, although the cost is close to NOK 80 million.
Although the state will compensate somewhat for the decrease in traffic due to the crown, it does not help fund ordinary ferry operations.

– They have not understood the seriousness of the uprising
– The government may not have understood the seriousness of lifting the ferries along the coast when they do not cover more of the additional cost of the environmental ferries. New ferries cost us an extra 80 million crowns a year, the state gives us 14 million crowns, says transport committee leader Kristin Sørheim to Romsdals Budstikke.
The Socialist People’s Party and the Labor Party will propose a larger move to the coastal county to have a good ferry deal at reasonable prices. It is crucial for the value-creating business community and for our citizens, and especially at a time when the corona pandemic presents us with great challenges.
FRP’s Frank Sve is generally willing to paint a picture of the situation. It’s probably more due to the fact that you fear the FRP will also not prioritize ferry travel when it comes to the construction site. Because it is Frp who sits with the key no. The Conservative government’s proposal for the state budget does not have a majority without the support of the FRP. If the FRP wants, it can solve the ferry challenges at Møre og Romsdal this fall.
For example, they can directly contribute financially to reducing the price of the ferry ticket and / or increasing the revenue key so that Møre og Romsdal avoids ferry cuts.
Sve believes county politicians have ordered ferries and routes beyond their means.
– Stop the ferry service
– I do not agree with the complaints that we receive very little money for the ferries in Møre og Romsdal, says Frps Frank Sve.
FRP must make a value decision about whether they want to do it or continue to prioritize people in core areas who already have more than before.
