President Donald Trump thanks the doctors, nurses, and all staff at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

– I came here, I didn’t feel so good. I feel much better now, he says in a video posted on Twitter just before 01 Norwegian time.

On Friday morning Norwegian time, it became known that the president and first lady Melania Trump had tested positive for the coronavirus. The two were quarantined at the White House, but the president was later taken to hospital.

The president’s symptoms were first described as mild and on Friday several White House correspondents announced that he would have symptoms on Wednesday of this week. Later there were reports that he had a fever. On Saturday afternoon Norwegian time, his doctor, Sean P. Conley, declared that the president was fine and had no fever.

– We are working hard to recover. I have to return. We still have to “Make America Great Again,” says Trump, mentioning, among other things, that he hopes to complete the campaign until the November 3 election.

– I think I’ll be back soon, he says.

– But this was something that happened. And it has happened to millions of people around the world. I fight for them, not just in the United States, but I fight for them all over the world. We’re going to beat the corona virus, or whatever you want to call it, says Trump.

Plus, Trump says “I just wanted to tell you that I’m starting to feel good.”

– During the next period, the next few days, it is probably the real test, so we will see what happens in the next few days.

He also appreciates all the messages of support from the American people and heads of state around the world.

– I will not forget that, he says about support.

Trump further explains that he did not want to stay in the White House, although it was an option, according to himself.

– Do not go anywhere. Standing up. Don’t meet people, don’t talk to people. I can not do this. I had to get out and … This is America. The best country in the world. The most powerful country in the world. I can’t just be locked in an upstairs room and say “whatever happens, happens.” I can not do this. We have to face the problems, as president we have to do that, says Trump.

He also says that First Lady Melania is fine.

– Melania wanted you to say something about the respect you have for our country and the love you have for our country. We are both fine. As you’ve probably read, she’s a little younger than me, just a little bit. We know the disease and the situation with age. Melania handles it like statistics suggest she should. It makes me and the country very happy.

President Donald Trump is 74 years old and at risk. First Lady Melania is 50 years old.

The video comes about five hours after Trump’s last message, where he also thanked the hospital and wrote that he was feeling fine.
