Liverpool star Sadio Mané (28) has tested positive in the crown test.
That’s confirmed by Liverpool on its websites Friday night.
The press release states that the forward, one of the best players so far this season, is in self-quarantine as a result of the guidelines.
He also says that Mané has mild symptoms, but that the general form should be fine.
Thus, the winger is out in the match against Aston Villa to be played next Sunday.
The 28-year-old has been booked with three goals in three games so far this season. The forward has delivered very good numbers for Liverpool the previous two seasons. In the 2018/19 season, he delivered 22 goals and two assists, while last season he finished with 18 goals and nine assists.
With Mané out, it may be natural for Diogo Jota to have the opportunity again:
Earlier this week, it was also clear that newly hired Liverpool’s Thiago tested positive for the coronavirus.
Liverpool then declared that the star player should be in good shape and on the road to recovery. The 29-year-old missed Monday’s game against Arsenal and also did not participate in the league cup game against Lincoln last week.
– It is up to each individual if they want to publish the result of a crowned test. We have followed protocol and Thiago is fine. He will isolate himself, as the guidelines say, and hopefully he will be back with us soon, club doctor Jim Moxon said in the Thiago press release.
Since the start of the season, some cases of coronary heart disease have been recorded in English clubs. Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez have gone through matches that result from positive tests. The same goes for Issa Diop, Josh Cullen and their West Ham manager David Moyes. Manchester United player Paul Pogba and Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombele were also infected with the virus earlier this summer.
The league cup match between Tottenham and Leyton Orient was also canceled last week after tests came back positive.
