The sleeping man on the mountain

At the same time, the police prosecutor claims that a third man was awakened by firefighters and rescued from the flames, which extended 200 meters long below and above the roof of the 19,000 square meter building.

– He slept in a small apartment at the end of the building that was completely damaged, Sten Floor Nelson tells Dagbladet.

The autopsy report of the man who was found dead in the commercial building Thursday night, more than a day and a half after the fire at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, was not ready Friday.

Know each other

– They have a relationship, they knew each other, says the police lawyer.

– Were one or both acquaintances of the police and did they have any conflict between them?

– No, none of them were known to the police. As of Friday afternoon, we are not aware of any conflict between them. It is one of several issues being investigated, says the police attorney.

– When were the two men from Gjøvik last seen?

He, with a caretaker assignment in the building in Moelv, was home Tuesday night, according to his wife. He usually leaves for work early and he hasn’t checked in at all. The car she had at her disposal was outside the building when fire and rescue vehicles arrived.

– The last safe observation of the other man was at 6 pm on Tuesday in the area near the city of Gjøvik. His family reported him missing when he did not return in turn, and a search operation was launched Tuesday night.

According to Oppland Arbeiderblad, both men maintained buildings. They must have had real estate projects together.

The large commercial building, which in Moelv is called Sentralen, has been owned since 2014 by investors Hans Bernhard Falk jr. and Klaus Bratlie in Gjøvik through GMM Eiendom.

Owners: – Many tracks

– Both we and the police have many clues about the causal connection to the fire, Bratlie tells Oppland Arbeiderblad.

When asked about an interview about the fire, Bratlie responds in a text message to Dagbladet:

– In consultation with the police, we have agreed that the police are responsible for communication with the outside world. This is for the sake of the investigation, as it is a criminal case, writes Bratlie.

Two reasons for a criminal case

Police attorney Sten Floor Nelson has no comment on the “causal connection” statement.

– Why has there been a criminal case with Kripos involved?

– For two reasons: the cause of the fire is unknown. And it was a complete surprise to the police and firefighters that another person was found dead in the ruins of the fire. Kripos has been at the scene of the fire with two dogs that are extremely good at sniffing out blood and human remains.
