Thorbjørn Jagland confirms that he met the abusive Jeffrey Epstein in 2013 and regrets saying something else to the leader of the Nobel Committee in 2019.

When asked by DN, relayed by committee chair Berit Reiss-Andersen, to committee members, Jagland replied in December last year that he had never been in contact with Epstein.

However, after the newspaper received information and documentation linking the former prime minister and Epstein to a meeting on March 27, 2013, Jagland confirms that Epstein was at the meeting.

The meeting took place at Jagland’s residence in Strasbourg, where he lived while presiding over the Council of Europe. Epstein should not have been actively involved in the meeting.

When I responded to Berit Reiss-Andersen in December last year, I had in mind DN’s crazy and absurd conspiracy theory that I had dined with this person in Paris in June. There may have been a misunderstanding in the communication for which I take responsibility and apologize, write to the newspaper.

Epstein confessed in 2008 to having paid a minor for sexual services. He was sentenced to 13 months in prison. He was found dead in his prison cell in August of last year.

Reiss-Andersen takes self-criticism after relaying wrong answers from Jagland.

– Jagland said yesterday that this was due to a misunderstanding, and I guess that. But of course it is not luck to have relayed an answer that turned out to be incorrect, Reiss-Andersen writes in an email Wednesday.
