Police are investigating whether the fire may have started a commercial building in Moelv, inside. One person was found dead in the building. Now they ask for advice on the case.
This is stated by police lawyer Sten Floor Nelson.
– It is one of the hypotheses from which we work, which can be applied, without wanting to lock ourselves in the main hypothesis. We are still doing extensive research, he tells VG.
Police reported the fire at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. The building is a large room that is used for the winter storage of cars, boats and other types of vehicles.
Here the police found a dead man.
– Is there anything that could indicate that it is attached?
– At the moment we cannot say anything more, but Kripos helps with the investigations at the scene of the fire. We’ve also ordered a fire dog at Kripos and received signs that it might be in place tomorrow, Nelson says.
Police are now seeking advice from people who may have made observations in relation to the fire:
“Images and video from the dash cam in cars in the Storgata area in Moelv and Mjøsbrua between 05:00 and 08:00 on Wednesday 30 September are of particular interest,” they write in a press release.
I believe the deceased performed the maintenance of the room.
The police attorney confirms that they have been in contact with the owner of the salon. They have received information that a person on Wednesday morning must have performed maintenance on the roof.
This person is reported missing and the car he had at his disposal was outside the hall.
– The police believe that the deceased is the person who ran the janitorial services. Family members have been notified, Nelson says.
– Do you rule out that there are other people in the hall?
– No, it’s that big and we’re looking at the building. That’s why we have the assistance of Kripos, there are more people working on the site, he says.

Autopsy report ready no earlier than Friday morning
Nelson says they had to use construction machinery to remove the burned things to make it safe to work there.
– Do you think the man was on the roof when it started to burn?
– The roof collapsed in connection with the fire, so there is speculation, says Nelson.
The deceased has been sent for an autopsy. The preliminary autopsy report is not expected before Friday morning.
