16-year-old stabbed in the face in Oslo – three minors arrested – VG

Just after 6 a.m. on Friday, police report that two youths were arrested after a 16-year-old was stabbed in the face with a large knife at Bogerud metro station in Oslo on Thursday.

One person was previously arrested in the case.

– The three are minors, and will be delivered to custody today. It should be done without delay when it comes to minors, said Terje Bechmann Dahl, section leader of the East investigation unit, on Friday afternoon.

Those involved in the incident are young people known to the police, he says.

– We will investigate the case over the weekend. The case is a high priority for us, in part because they are minor and it is a serious incident.

Bechmann Dahl therefore does not want to rule out further arrests in the near future. He adds that the audience doesn’t have to worry.

– Based on the information we have now, it indicates that the victim is not a random victim, so the local community should not worry, concludes the section leader.

When VG spoke to Operations Manager Tor Gulbrandsen at 06.15, he said that they had received information about several named individuals before they went to arrest.

– We have had a fairly extensive search in the immediate area, in addition to the fact that we have worked with the incoming information throughout the night, said Gulbrandsen.

– We have arrested two who are now charged with bodily injury. We have indications that there are more perpetrators than that and we are still working intensively on the case. You should not rule out that there will be more
arrests, he added.

VG has had access to a video of the incident, showing several people hitting objects and kicking a person lying on the ground, before running from the scene. Several passersby approach the person.

– When we got to the place, most of the people had run, there was one left. There are about eight people involved. There were many reports of a machete, ax or large knife, police operations manager Vidar Pedersen told VG on Thursday.

The 16-year-old wounded man has a deep cut on his face and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Police informed VG shortly after the incident that the person in question was seriously injured. On Friday morning, Operations Manager Tor Gulbrandsen says he is now described as slightly injured.

– Do you know anything else about the circumstances surrounding the incident, was it a random attack?

– It’s always a bit early to come out with that information, but we have a picture that there is a story here, which means this was not entirely a coincidence, says operations manager Gulbrandsen, adding:

– We take these incidents very seriously. When such a serious incident occurs with the use of different types of sharp weapons, it is of course dangerous for those involved, but it can also be dangerous for those close to it.

– A lot of blood

VG spoke with a witness Thursday who lives near the Bogerud metro station where the incident occurred.

– I first heard screams that sounded like an argument. Then there were more crying cries. Then I looked out the window, he says.

He claims he called the police.

– There were between five and seven young people gathered around one. They beat him with various objects, they looked like machetes, says the witness, who assures that he was the first to arrive at the scene at the same time that the police arrived.

– There was a lot of blood. Police gave him first aid before the ambulance arrived, he says.

The witness believes that the youths were between 15 and 19 years old.

– It is not pleasant that this type of thing happens in the neighborhood, young people with guns. Sad to see, she says.
