SANDEFJORD (VG) (Sandefjord-Strømsgodset 0-0) Dense, few occasions and no goals. Sandefjord-Strømsgodset is unlikely to be a part of many rides when the 2020 Elite Series is summed up.

Strømsgodset’s Johan Hove was closer when he slammed the ball off the crossbar midway through the second half. Soon after, Godset striker Lars-Jørgen Salvesen had the opportunity to score the header from an angle.

Hove also had the last chance of the match, three minutes after extra time. The dangerous pursuit, which has seven league goals in 2020, came running down the field, but the ball slipped and rolled out.

– I’ve had good results so far this year and I was hoping to establish at least one of the chances today. It’s disappointing, Hove tells VG.

Here’s how it can be done, Hove:

But the 0-0 is a completely fair result in a football game not too entertaining.

– I know the teams behind us (Mjøndalen, Aalesund and Start) lost this round, and we get a point. We have to take that with us, says Sandefjord’s Spanish playmaker Rufo.

Sandefjord manager Martí Cifuentes feels that referee Tore Hansen made the list too high, and that it led to a physical battle.

– It was even, but maybe not as much as expected, because there are two offensive teams that want to play football. But I don’t judge, says Cifuentes.

Property manager Henrik Pedersen gave a clear message during the break talk that the effort was not good enough.

– We can’t afford to play 95 percent effort, says Pedersen, who feels he got an answer after the sermon.

Johan Hove feels there are two lost points left at Sandefjord.

– This has also been the case in recent games. It’s a slightly unpleasant feeling that we have to use for motivation, the 20-year-old believes.

Both teams tried, and in game terms it was a perfectly fine match, but it by no means took off in the face of goals.

Icelandic Vidar Ari Jónsson got to the home team’s only real chance, and should have taken better care of his teammate Enric Vallès’ beautiful post in the first half.

A couple of nice touches, especially from the home team’s Rufo, and the solid defensive play of both teams turned into action on a night that will hardly be remembered for a long time.
