The weather: – The storm is coming – A full storm awaits

At this time, a low pressure is being born west of Iceland. It will set course for Norway and will significantly strengthen on the way across the sea. When it makes landfall, it will do so in a storm in full force.

– Low pressure is said to “deepen”, when it becomes stronger. This low pressure will become a storm hub on your trip to Norway, says Martin Granerød, a meteorologist on duty at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

In both Nordland and Troms, a yellow level warning has been issued for strong gusts.

Full storm

For Bodø, six hazard warnings have been issued: for hurricane force winds, landslide hazard, flood hazard, heavy rain, high water levels and strong wind gusts.

– It is northern Nordland that receives the most rain and the strongest wind, and tomorrow a total storm from the southwest hits Vestfjord, north of Bodø, says Granerød.

He adds that there may also be a small storm from the southwest along the coast from Stadt and to the north. From Nord-Trøndelag and to the north, there is also the danger of a lot of rain locally.

HIGH WATER LEVEL: There is a yellow warning for high water levels in Nordland for the section from Bodø to Å in Lofoten. On Monday afternoon, a height of 40 to 60 cm above that indicated in the tide tables is expected, meteorologists report on Twitter.

High water level

In the north of Nordland, you can expect tomorrow a water level of 40 to 60 centimeters above the height indicated in the tide table. In Finnmark, the water level is expected to be between 40 and 55 above the indicated elevation.

– Those who on the basis of this need to check their moored boats should do so tonight or early tomorrow, says Granerød.

Going out tomorrow in a small boat is strongly discouraged.

– When there is a full storm and high waves, a small boat is not something to be with, says the meteorologist.

Continue east

– How long will this storm last?

– It seems that the worst wind is tomorrow afternoon, and that it will diminish a bit tomorrow night.

– Does this affect other parts of the country?

– No, it goes north from the Iceland highway through Lofoten and Troms, and then further east. Looks like southern Norway is escaping this, says meteorologist
