The World Health Organization (WHO) reports a record increase in corona cases globally in the past 24 hours.

More than 307,000 new cases have been detected in the past 24 hours, they reported Sunday.

The highest number of infected is in India, the United States and Brazil, according to the WHO. The number of deaths increased in the last 24 hours by 5,537 to a total of 917,417 during the pandemic.

At the same time, there is a decrease in the number of infected people registered in both the United States and Brazil.

The previous highest number of new cases during a day was 306,857 on September 6. The highest number of deaths in one day so far is 12,430, which occurred on April 17.

Reuters reports on Sunday that there is a growing shortage of medical oxygen for treating the virus in India. The number of cases of infection has exceeded 4.75 million.

In Europe, both France and Spain have recently had their worst days of infection from the pandemic so far. On Friday, both registered more cases of infection than ever.

In both countries, local measures are being introduced to eliminate the virus. French Prime Minister Jean Castex, however, has said they do not plan a new national shutdown.

Although a new record for the number of people infected in a day was set in the WHO overview on Sunday, the VG corona special shows that the infection trend around the world can be described as flat.

The trend is calculated based on a seven-day moving average over the past 14 days, starting yesterday and going backward in time. The fact that the trend is flat, therefore, means that the average of the last 14 days around the world remains roughly the same level as before.
