Sandra Lyng will be allowed to continue after voting problems. – I thought “hey … is that true?”

A delay in the systems of the company that delivers the votes by SMS to NRK’s Stjernekamp ”, generated uncertainty about the result of the broadcast on Saturday. Sandra Lyng first had to drop out of the competition, but was told late at night that she would be allowed to continue anyway.

NRK’s ”Star Fight” project manager Mirja Minjares says they are awaiting a comprehensive review from Link Mobility, the company that delivers the survey via SMS to NRK. The company says in a statement that they had a delay in their systems that created uncertainty about the results of the vote.

It is also unclear what the actual result of Saturday’s vote was, nor will it be revealed.

– We will not get the result for the good of those who remain. We want all the artists to enter next week with good feelings, says Minjares.

Since they couldn’t be sure of the outcome, they chose to continue with the nine participants until next week.

– You must be sure that the votes count

Minjares says they haven’t had a problem with voting on “Star Fight” in the past weeks, and that everyone who paid votes by SMS on Saturday will get their money back.

– Can viewers and participants trust that the voices of “Star Wars” mean something?

– Yes, we are now tackling this to make sure the votes count and the result is correct. Fortunately, these situations rarely arise, and if they do, we act immediately. Artists and viewers alike must be sure that the voices in “Star Wars” count.

– How are you going to ensure that this does not happen again?

– We will thoroughly review the routines with our provider and take steps to ensure this does not happen again.

“Hey … is that true?”

Sandra Lyng says that the last 24 hours have been an emotional roller coaster, but that she is very happy.

– I thought “hey … is that true?” I was so relieved, I was also very touched by the fact that people probably didn’t want me home anyway. I was incredibly grateful for that.

Lyng has not lost confidence in the voting system after Saturday’s troubles.

– It’s great that NRK handled it the way they did, that they let it be known that it was not right when they found out and continued with all the participants.

Lyng says the other participants started clapping when they got the message that she was there.

– It was an incredibly nice reaction from them. We have become a very nice group, so I wish they would allow us to hug.

Big difference in the number of votes

Minjares explains that the error with the SMS votes was discovered because there was a big difference in the number of votes compared to last Saturday. In addition, several votes were cast after the voting ended.

– Why was nothing done before Lyng was sent, if you saw that there were fewer votes than last week?

– We didn’t see it until we blocked the result and reported it further. Only then did we compare the numbers with last week’s and see the difference.

– How have you worked to avoid these kinds of situations after the voting problems at the Melodi Grand Prix earlier this year?

– It was quite a different situation. Since then, we have worked hard to eliminate voting problems on nrk.no. It worked smoothly now, but unfortunately it was here that our third party provider had trouble with the SMS system.

Minjares notes that he believes Lyng is incredibly brave and will continue in “Star Wars.”

– She’s a fantastic artist, and it’s not just about agreeing to join in after going through something like that.

Minjares says that if they get a satisfactory review from Link Mobility, they will trust them in the future.

Link Mobility CEO Ina Rasmussen says in a statement that they have worked with SMS surveys with NRK for many years and have good routines for advance testing and monitoring during TV broadcasts.

– We take the necessary measures to ensure that all systems are quality assured before the next shipment. We apologize for the uncertainty and inconvenience this has had for good artists, engaged viewers, and NRK. Everyone who has paid to vote via SMS will get their money back, Rasmussen says in the statement.
